Not many really qualify as “lousy,” per se, but I always dive for the \>\> button when either It’s Only Love or Mr. Moonlight start up.

I think the song is called **She’s A Woman**. It sounds like Paul had a pretty good (if very short) refrain but couldn’t think of a song to build around it so he just wrote some lyrics, threw in some guitar “burps” (Eenk, eenk, eenk) and put them together. The two parts don’t even flow together, it’s like they stop playing one song and go to another and them move back. Very sharp, jerky flow.

Oh man, Mr. Moonlight is a horrible song. It’s Only Love sounds like it could have been a decent enough song if they kept working on it.

Freddie and the Dreamers laugh at Mr. Moonlight.

I feel it should be noted that _Mr. Moonlight_ is a cover.

I don’t feel it’s fair to categorize it as a Beatles’ song, although they did choose to record a verison of it.

I, personally, am not particularly fond of _Within You Without You_, but I wouldn’t call it lousy, it’s just not to my taste.

I’d say _Revolution #9_, but it’s not really a song, and I always listen to it when I play the white album, so it must have something going for it.

Musically, “Revolution 9”.

Lyrically, “Run For Your Life”.

And for all-around shiteyness, “Michelle”, by a country mile.

“Got to Get You Into My Life” makes me puke. This is a good example of what John kept bitching about Paul’s overdoing it. The horns have a cheesy quality about them.
I’m apparently in the minority of those who LIKE “Revolution 9”.

John didn’t keep bitching about “Paul’s overdoing it.” If anything, he bitched about Paul’s constant harping on The Beatles to actually record something, rather then sitting around on their collective asses. Lennon himself admitted that he was the laziest person in world history, having once spent 4 solid months doing nothing but lie on the couch, watch tv, have newspapers/books/food brought to him and only got up to go to the bathroom.

They may have recorded some less than stellar songs when they were getting started, but once Lennon, McCartney and Harrison were established songwriters, most of their songs were good to great.

However, if you want to hear all the mistakes they made, in a single spot, try listening to the White album from start to finish. There are some very good songs, some okay songs that are at least fun, and at the bottom of the barrel, Revolution #9, Wild Honey Pie, Why Don’t We Do It In The Road and at least a couple of others.

**Phil** ’s gonna want to bust my chops for this but I nominate the entire second album of the _White Album_.

Not a remotely decent song to be found within there.

_Yer Blues. Everybody’s Got Something… Helter Skelter_ all among the sloppiest guitar work to be found on any major record label.

_Birthday_ one of McCartney five-minute-creations receives far too much acclaim than it deserves.

The fourth side is about as wretched as it gets… and I actually like the song _Good Night_.

Overall, we rate this one a hearty two thumbs down and regard this as the most overblown, over-rated, over-craptacular release of a major musical group of all time.

Ahem.
My work is done here.

Well, **minlokwat** , if anyone busts your chops, I got your back. I have to agree with that. I listened to it recently (the White album, but I’m specifically referring to the 2nd disc) because it was the one album I hadn’t listened to in years, and I now remember why. It really bored me to death. I couldn’t wait for it to end.

At the same time, and at the risk of being seen as that guy who goes around backing up the minority opinions, I love **Revolution #9**.

However, my vote for this thread absolutely goes to:

Hey Jude

I hate that song. I hate that song. hate hate hate!!!

It is soooo stupid, I wish we were in the pit. That stupid melody at the end that isn’t even catchy yet Paul continues to presume that we all want to sing it over and over and over again till we puke.

The only Paul song I hate more than that one is Paul’s heartfelt  attempt at writing a 9/11 song **Freedom**.
The single most shallow song ever written IMHO.

But of course, we’re talkin’ Beatles here, so forgive that little hijack.

I can’t hang with the Beatles fans because I’m not one and all I know is what they play on the Oldies and Classic Rock Stations. I’ve never listened to an album.

I like the early Beatles I’ve heard. Good rock ‘n’ roll. Then I don’t know _what_ happened. They got all weird with the Eastern stuff and the peacenik stuff. Yuk.

With that in mind, the songs I always turn off are **Strawberry Fields** ; **Norweigan Wood** \*, **Revolution** , and probably some others I’ve repressed.

[sub]\*My first experience with this song was a cover by Hank Williams, Jr. (His wasn’t much better, lol)[/sub]

“Lucy in the Sky with Diamonds”
“Octopus’s Garden”
“Being for the Benefit of Mr. Kite”
“With a Little Help from my Friends”
“Maxwell’s Silver Hammer”
“Mean Mr. Mustard”
“Polythene Pam”
Any time they let Ringo sing.
I mean, really, we could have done without any of these songs and been okay. Best band ever, my aunt fanny, give me The Velvet Underground any day! Picking _their_ lousiest song would be more difficult (Okay, not really, I vote for “The Gift”).

I would have to say that the original version of “Love Me Do” as heard on "Past Masters Vol. I (featuring Ringo on drums, not Andy White as on the most often heard single) is the worst Beatles song, and the only bad song at that IMHO. Paul’s out of breath and a bit flat, whereas Ringo seems to observe time rather creatively. The track is a bit thin-sounding too.

BTW, Ringo is so much better than most people realize. He has tons of chops (Ticket To Ride, The End, Here Comes The Sun are good examples), but just chooses not to use most of them in favor of the song. I’m not sure WHAT was going on at the start of the Beatles career…

Worst songs:

Hey Jude
A Little Help From My Friends
Yesterday - my god! What a dirge. Paul McCartney is the most overrated musician ever.
