The fourth one sounds like an Ogden Nash poem I’ve read, Eve, though I have no idea if he ever served as a lyricist. Here’s mine: “She became a corpse, A corpse all in the ground, And he became the cold clay, And muffled her all around.” I’ll be astonished if anyone gets it, though the band was popular in the U.K. Catrandom ---

This is a cool game John. I’d love to contribute . . . if I could ever figure out a damned answer !! The library of lyrics available are greater than “opening lines of books” or “movie lines”. Someone can always pick an impossible lyric. (I know I can think of several no one would know.) Perhaps instead of trying to out do each other we should consider this a game of catch, and attempt to be a bit more well known. I cheated and use a show tune.Anyway, it’s from the show “Rent”. The song is called “La Vie Boheme”. Try this one: Make a hole with the gun perpendicular to the name of this town on a desktop globe. Exit wound in a foreign nation, showing the home of the one this was written for. My apartment looks upside down from there. Water spirals the wrong way down the sink, and her voice is a backwords record. It’s like a whirlpool and it never ends. ---
