It looks like the star of the new Doc Savage movie is going to be [Dwayne “The Rock” Johnson.](http://www.bleedingcool.com/2016/05/30/the-rock-joins-shane-blacks-doc-savage-movie/) The bad news is that the guy behind this project is the jackass that shit all over the recent “Green Hornet” film. ---

Nah, Shane Black didn’t make the Green Hornet. The article is pointing out the Green Hornet for taking a comedic tone with a classic pulp hero. Black seems to be taking the same approach with Savage, which gives the writer pause. ---

Shane Black is also responsible for the excellent _Kiss Kiss Bang Bang_, which was also a comedic take on pulp fiction tropes. If Doc Savage turns out to be half as good as that movie was, it’ll be amazing. ---
