I did search on ‘military’ in thread titles, and I looked for threads along the lines of Why Did You Join? or similar. Surprisingly, it appears we haven’t done this in at least 10 years. I’m pretty sure we’d have done this before but if we did, apparently it was many years ago.

Quickly scanning the thread titles in the search results, this one came a little close —

> [@Who here has served in the military, law enforcement, or the justice system?](https://boards.straightdope.com/t/who-here-has-served-in-the-military-law-enforcement-or-the-justice-system/832230):
>
> Inspired by this statement in another thread: I’m interested in the range of this kind of experience represented among our peers here, so if you’re willing to share your knowledge, I’d love to learn … What was your role, how long ago, for how long, what kind of agency? What is your general view of your experience? What is the one thing that you would like everyone to know about service in your organization? What is a misconception that you would like to clear up about it? So, what counts for…

And this one, not all that close —

> [@Have you served in the military?](https://boards.straightdope.com/t/have-you-served-in-the-military/824888):
>
> This poll is a headcount of those who have served, or are still serving in, the military. U.S.A.F. for four years.

I scrolled and scanned, and scrolled and scanned. When I got to the bottom, Discourse said this:

**There are more results. Please narrow your search criteria.**

So, I tried.
