# The Moderator Hat

Inspired by several recent threads in the Pit regarding the proper time for the Moderator Hat to be put on and off.
If there was a Moderator Hat what would yours look like? I picture a snazzy grey fedora pulled low over the eyes, maybe with a press-pass stuck in the brim like in the old movies with the word “press” replaced with"Mod". I’d buy one in a second. Please give your suggestions, could be a money-maker for the SDMB.

I always pictured them as grey dunce caps with a shiny green pompom on the tip, and MOD written on it with a black magic marker.

It is absolutely a green bowler hat - or plaid, for those that fancy that sort of thing. It also has the grid for an old Lite Bright toy behind the front part of the hat, and the word “MOD” is spelled out with Lite Bright pegs pressed through the fabric of the hat, into the Lite Bright board so that the letters constantly glow. This contraption is powered by two 9 volt batteries. It can also be somewhat weighty and can cause neck problems over prolonged periods of time, which is why when the Mod hat gets put on, its only a couple of sentances before its whipped back off again.

I would say a fedora, too, except dark brown, almost burgundy. And it would be very elegant.

I picture **Loach** ’s version as the dressy version that they wear to formal events only. For everyday banning, I imagine an army-style camo helmet, with “MOD” painted where the rank would be.

Hmmm…I always pictured it as a WWII German helmet…ya know, the pointy ones.
I never thought about it before, but I wonder if that’s my brain making some subtle, subliminal “Nazi Mod” connection. 😉

I like **Cartooniverse** ’s cat-in-the-hat option, but for some strange reason I always have pictured a floppy garden party hat, like this:
