Fair enough. But the OP seemed to indicate something you learn from the news. Something not personal.
A massive EM pulse is one of the first things that came to mind for me. You ever see Dark Angel? The antecedent in that dystopia was a EM pulse strong enough to wipe out electronic banking records etc.
On 9/11/01 my immediate concern was local Dopers, but the rest were safe and Persephone, Tower One, took its hit as a suggestion to take the day off.
“Something worse” is what I expect every time my phone rings.
To buckle up because when the markets open at 9, [following indicators in other already open markets ( financial crash ONLY after 9am was a silly inclusion, to my mind!)], all of your money is now worthless. All of it!

This kind of insane post should cause real panic. Violence directed at any democratically elected/appointed figure is disaster of the highest magnitude and would probably lead to retalitory violence.
