I happen to frequent a restaurant that has at least two paintings of semi-nude ladies on the walls in one of the rooms. One lady is shown bare-breasted; the other is shown from behind, bare-assed.
And would you believe that the waiters regularly seat families in this room? I mean, we’re talking little kids and babies! And grandparents too! Holy crap!
Funny thing is: I’ve never seen anybody complain or ask to be moved, even if they’re not regulars and have never been in the aforementioned Naked Lady Paintings Room before.

Where is the outrage? Where are the lawsuits?
More importantly, where is the cocktail I ordered?

who the hell **doesn’t** suspect that there would be nude figures/paintings/statues in an art museum? Including the parents. don’t want your kid to see nudes? don’t let 'em go to the art museum. all parents have to sign a permission slip.

This argument is based on the sadly incorrect assumption that all parents even know where the art museum is, let alone what’s on view there.

Actually, i’m going to agree with you to a certain extent here.

Anyone who lives in Texas and who discounts the possibility of reactionary idiocy and retarded intellectual capacity, or who expresses surprise when those things come to the surface, is clearly either stupid or new to the state.
[/QUOTE]

There may be some truth to that but let us again note that the museum had been visited by over a thosuand students from Frisco-area elementary schools. From the teacher’s perspective a trip to this museum was a well-established field trip standby. A thousand students is probably 40 classes. By the time you were planning the 41st, you’d have reason to feel safe.

Absolutely.

My post was really a tongue-in-cheek comment on the influence that morons can have in Texas even when, as in cases like this, they are clearly _not_ in the majority.

FWIW… this story ISN’T about benighted hillbillies who live in the sticks. Frisco’s probably the most white-bread, suburban, soccer-mom infested town ever in the history of mankind.

Having lived here for about 4 years, if I had to guess who complained, it’d be some busy-body “helicopter parent”/soccer-mom who really doesn’t have anything else to do during the day. You know, the kind that gets all dressed up to go to the grocery store. About every third car(every other SUV) around here has some kind of stupid-ass rear window sticker telling you that little Hunter is #55 on the Bobcats in the local pop warner league, or that little Ashli does junior gymnastics.

There are a lot of people around this area who have very defined ideas of what their communities should be like, and what their kids should see, etc…, and if things don’t fit their narrow box, they raise hell.

The problem as I see it isn’t so much bad education; the district is pretty good in most every other way, but instead the problem is that there are a bunch of opinionated soccer-mom types who tend to make a lot of noise.

I’d like to know if other parents make any noise against the complainer. I would (and I have, just not on this specific situation). If this principal is so weak-willed to cave this quickly to the outspoken prudish asshole, then maybe a few outspoken parents defending the actions can twist the silly putty she has for a spine back in the other direction. **bump** might know better, but I can’t believe this to be a widely-held belief; sounds more like a few troglodytes afraid of the human body trying to hide behind a skewed sense of morality and a “_Won’t somebody think about the children?_” mentality.

Anyone who lives [del]in Texas[/del] on Earth and who discounts the possibility of reactionary idiocy and retarded intellectual capacity, or who expresses surprise when those things come to the surface, is clearly either stupid or new to the [del]state[/del] planet.

Really mhendo, while this is a remarkably stupid case of puritanical idiocy, implying that it happened because it’s Texas or that it could only happen in Texas (in spite of Unregistered Bull’s determined efforts in this thread to reinforce that notion) is regional bigotry.

Dude, I don’t know what kind of a school you went to, but when I was in school, we were REQUIRED to do this every day. After football practice. All of us were butt NAKED, we could see each others actual penises and stuff, even Tommy G’s, who had funny hairy stuff growing over it and was much larger than the rest or ours. And woe to you if one of the coaches caught you trying to skip the showers.
