I saw it on Link TV last night. An animated tale of the Ramayan by [Nina Paley](http://www.sitasingstheblues.com/). It includes the story of Paley’s break up with her husband, has shadow puppets as the chorus and musical numbers by the 1920’s Jazz singer [Annette Hanshaw.](http://www.annettehanshaw.com/) If you have more bandwidth than God, you can download it [here.](http://www.sitasingstheblues.com/wiki/index.php?title=SitaSites) One of my favorite scenes must be spoiler boxed: Sita sings “Who’s That Knockin at My Door” while Rama and the monkey army come to her rescue, and demon body parts are thrown against the wall like snowballs. ---

[Previous thread](http://boards.straightdope.com/sdmb/showthread.php?t=513157) and a truly marvelous movie, which I was lucky enough to see on the big screen. I think it may be available on DVd now, too… ---

I saw it this weekend on _Link TV._ My favorite scene should probably be in a spoiler box: As Rama and the monkey army comes to her rescue, Sita sings, “Who’s that Knocking at My Door?” and demon body parts slam into the wall before her like snowballs as they are hacked to pieces. ---

Thanks, **Eutychus** , I enjoyed that very much. It reminded me of _The Triplets of Belleville_, but played even more games with the animation. ---

Along the lines with **Plague Dogs** is an obligatory mention of the **Valse Triste** segment from _Allegro Non Troppo_. The film as a whole has its ups & downs but this section is devastating. You can find it on YouTube (if you dare…) ---

Oh, shit, **Ants**! I hadn’t seen that movie in thirty years, and had completely forgotten that segment. Way to make a Doper cry! [Previous page](https://boards.straightdope.com/t/the-most-amazing-animated-film-youll-never-see/492173.md?page=3)
