I love tiramisu; I tiramisued my way through Italy. And I don’t really like coffee. I had an excellent berry one instead of coffee flavored in Florence, Italy. ---

Considering that “tiramisu” literally means “pick-me-up” in reference to coffee’s caffeinating effect, I am dubious about extending the name to a non-coffee pastry. ---

I just remembered another disappointment (although it’s more of a “treat” than a dessert). I visited Disneyland when I was 10 years old and they were selling chocolate-covered frozen bananas. I liked bananas and they looked delicious, so I asked my parents to get me one. Little did I know that it was like eating a chocolate-covered granite obelisk. At least a 9 on the Mohs hardness scale. ---

My parents were children of the Great Depression, and our dinner menu tended to depend on what was on sale that particular week. When I was a kid, there was a fad for Cherries Jubilee. I loved it. Bananas Foster was not an adequate substitute. ---

Bought a huge bottle of Kirschwasser and ended up drinking it a bit at a time. Took years to finish it.
