Not even close to the egregiousness of previous posters, but one time I was walking my dog late at night downtown and I watched some asshole standing in a doorway of a shop take out a pack of smokes, take one out, then throw the empty pack on the ground like it was no big deal. I wanted so badly to freak out on him for being a disgusting slob and littering up my neighbourhood but this was a big drunk guy and I had my little dog with me and I couldn’t take the chance of her getting hurt by this obviously selfish, inconsiderate dickhead.

Fuck I hate people who litter.

> Kolkata (India)- circa 1991. A bicyclist, lying on the road, his brains squeezed out because his back and head (in that order) had been run over by a bus. That was the sad part. A young woman, who witnessed the accident, and stopped by to see if she could render any medical help (that was the touching part). The crowd of creepy leches who gathered around to gawp at her, and to voice their opinion on her clothes (a knee-length, whitish dress), her skin (a “white” woman – must be “phorenaar”), and more, while she screamed for someone to get a doctor from the nearby hospital (a doctor? He is most likely dead. Where is the emergency??? And, which country are you from, madam?) – THAT was the disgusting part. I still retch when I think of them. Although I still stop by to give first-aid to anyone who needs it (and now have a skin thick enough to deflect all penetrating the stares), I have nothing but contempt for a people who regard a medical emergency in a public arena as a show, and will take a gander, but not offer assistance.

India is terrible with the people who will just stop in the street to stare at anything. I hated it, too. It was like a freak show. ☹

I don’t like the flags either. It’s always on some beat up old car around here, and the flag is tattered and torn. That’s not respect.

And I also hate litterers. At least once a week I find a discarded juice bottle or trash just laying in my front yard. Assholes. The worst are the POS that go to kids’ playgrounds and drink and then just smash the beer bottles right there, leaving broken glass everywhere.

I can’t think of the “most” disgraceful thing I ever saw, but I did see a lady yelling at her three year old grandson because he had to go pee and hadn’t told her before. I was like, lady, take him to the bathroom and _then_ yell at him. He’s three. He doesn’t exactly have great bladder control.

I think I also overheard a conversation between two people, on the street, talking about their father that had raped their child (very young). I only heard snippets but the grief and horror and sorrow in their voices still resonates me.

Hmm, the most disgraceful. Couple of things I can remember vying for the top.

One Sunday I was at the Krogers in Clifton in Cincinnati with a friend, picking up some gaming snacks. We’re in line at the register, with a middle aged man and a small boy I took to be his son in front of us. A large group of well dressed (they looked like they had just come from church) black people come into the store all at once. As they’re walking by, the little boy looks up from whatever he was doing and blurts out ‘Where’d all these ni\*\*ers come from?’. That was the day I thought I was going to get killed at Kroger.

While it was the kid who said it, we all knew where he got it from. I kinda felt bad for the kid, he was obviously raised that way.

On the subject of flag treatment, I [started a poll](http://boards.straightdope.com/sdmb/showthread.php?t=685625) inspired by the OP on how bothered you would be if you witnessed someone setting light to the Star-Spangled Banner.

As mentioned in that other thread, displaying a flag poorly is very different from burning a flag in protest to many people.

I was at a park when a woman drove up with her trunk propped open. She stopped, got out and took one dog from the cabin of the car and the other one from her trunk so they could have their walkies. Transporting the dog in her trunk. I called humane society. It was Sunday so I flagged down a park cop. I left once the cop started talking to the woman, I was just so disgusted. I didn’t even want to see how it turned out.

I called CPS, but I doubt they were able to do anything.

I’m not sure I understand the problem with a dog transported in the trunk.

In his defense, it could have been a fake tattoo. They do sell those for kiddies. They look very real until you get close.

Fairly familiar with tats, including the red and the slight scabbing of recent needle work, and this had both.

I should have mentioned this example before:
About two years ago I was at the Long Beach Civic Center. Some Mexican social activists had set up a display with the Mexican flag flying at the top and the U. S. flag near the bottom, and upside down! This was obviously some kind of political statement; in any case, if an American dared to try this in Mexico or any other country–with the U. S. flag at the top and the local national flag at the bottom–he would be dead meat!

It gets worse than that. Policies like these are because one too many fuck head lawyers helped to sue supermarkets because someone claimed to get ill over taking food out of a dumpster and eating it.

Well, that just sucks.

My dad tells me of the time he was five years old and got a tattoo. Now this was in 1940s India and there weren’t exactly any rules, and the tattoo guy was _still_ hesitant about tattooing a five year old. But, dad gave him money, and said that his dad (my granddad) had approved it, so the tattoo guy tattooed my dad’s name onto his arm.

Well, he got home and I don’t think it was an hour before his elder brother found it. He beat nine kinds of hell out of my dad and then took him all the way back to the tattoo artist, and insisted he cover up the name with something else, at least. He covered it up with an elaborate flower.

When granddad found out, Dad got yet another beating. And a lecture. And a scolding from Grandma.

And yet someone here in the States is OK with a huge tattoo on a child’s chest!

And they had no problem with the tattoo artist? Just change to a different design and we’re good because obviously it’s the five year old’s fault. Wow.

In all seriousness, it was just the way of things. Tattoo artist wasn’t to know it wasn’t allowed in this house.

A group of five female high school students taking up the handicapped seats in the front of the bus too busy on their handheld devices to notice a really old woman get on. She asked for a seat. They ignored her. The bus driver told them to allow her to sit in the front and finally one of them moved her stupid ass.

I lamblasted them: When you get old and people treat you like crap, remember this moment. And if you think you’re not going to get old, you are sadly mistaken. Old people are in the majority now, but when you’re old, you’ll be in the minority. See how people treat you then. No old person should ever have to ask for a seat. You move your ass when they get on the bus.

Nobody said a word, but as I was leaving the bus, the female driver said “Lady, I like your style.”

It was nothing personal, just that, yes, I’d say any of those is a more disgraceful thing than flag mistreatment. I would spit on a flag to prevent each of those from occurring, and the world would be better for it.

Way back when I lived in the city there was always something to see.

There was this couple who used to walk past my house everyday.
The young man would walk up the street with her younger brother, who was maybe 8 or 9?
They would walk up to meet her than the three of the would walk back down the street together.

The young couple would be all over each other the entire time and without fail somewhere on the walk he would get behind her and dry hump her as they walked down the sidewalk.
One day they stopped on front of my house and she grabbed my fence for balance as she bent over and he humped her from behind.

I yelled at them to get away from my house and to act decent in public.
They walked away while the younger boy screamed every name he could think of at me.

Then the younger one started throwing trash in my yard.
One day he threw an empty six pack and broke my front window.
Unknown to him, there was a cop car coming down the street behind him and he was picked up.
Never saw any of them again.

Of course there was the other time I walked out my back door to find two couples screwing in my back yard, right under the clothes line.
The drunks lying in the gutters, the toddlers running around in the park by themselves with full diapers hanging down to their knees, the naked little boy laying on top of the naked little girl trying to have sex,
I don’t miss the city.
