Also from While You Were Sleeping. Lucy gives blood at the hospital and the blood nurse has one line: _Now sit here and sip this or you’ll get wuzzy._ The way she delivers that line is wonderful, especially the way she pronounces woozy in a way different than the usual. It is a true example of "there are no small parts. . . " Can’t find a link for that one. ---

I’m stretching the word “memorable” here because of how much I don’t remember. In some movie, probably a rom-com, a man and woman are talking to each other outside in front of I think her apartment building. I think the building was painted blue. From a second floor window a man watches on. Out of the blue she yells at the window-watcher dude something like, “It’s not all about you!” then resume her original conversation. I don’t recall if the window-watcher was ever introduce previously nor if he reappeared. That line and its abruptness, though, has stuck with me for some reason. ---

One more from me. Sorry, I really like these. When I taught drama I would seek out great performances by bit players to show as examples of the power of taking small roles seriously. Anyway, in kind of a different vein, from David Lynch’s _Mulholland Dr_., a character referred to as “Bum” in the credits appears for all of 1 second in the film (behind the dumpster at Winkie’s Diner). It is in my opinion the most memorable 1 second of the entire film. There is no footage of this scene online, but it’s better to experience it in context of the entire film anyway. That one second changes the tone of the film from that point forward. The part was played by [Bonnie Aarons](http://www.imdb.com/name/nm0007491/). ---

Besides those mentioned above, there are a couple I can think of who get killed before they get a chance to talk: the wicked witch of the East in _The Wizard of Oz_ and the girl who gets shot in the rooftop swimming pool in _Dirty Harry_. Mr. Maguire in _The Graduate_ actually has a few lines, but all in one scene, and he’s onscreen for less than a minute. His most famous line is “Plastics.” ---
