The creator of [Fark.com](http://Fark.com) apparently bought the rights to name a Boston sports arena (the Fleet Center?) for a day, and one of the most popular suggestions is the “Abe Vigoda Memorial Center.” The poor guy.
I won’t say it isn’t funny, though.

It’s amazing, how long Abe Vigoda has seemed to be on the brink of death. I recall back in about 1993, I was in a bar in Athens, Georgia one afternoon, and the TV was tuned to CNN with sound turned off. There was some old stock footage of Anthony Quinn showing with a story about him, but of course we couldn’t hear what they were saying.
“Aww, Anthony Quinn died!” said one of my friends.
“How do you know he’s dead?” I asked. “We don’t know what they’re saying about him.”
“Oh, come _on_,” he replied, “what would you think if they were showing the _Abe Vigoda montage_ up there?”
(It turned out Mr. Quinn would live until June 2001, but the point remains.)
And now I see that there was an [Abe Vigoda death rumor](http://us.imdb.com/name/nm0001820/bio) in the 80s that may have started all this.
