The labels on some of those veggie-flavored drinks really are on the line of deceiving. Sure, if you look at the nutritional information on the back, it is clearer, but main product labeling also be more upfront. If it was not implied that you are drinking “kale juice” but instead “apple juice flavored with kale” they would in the clear.

High fructose corn syrup is also fructose + glucose. In nearly the same proportion as sucrose. There is a few percent more fructose in HFCS than in sucrose (aka real sugar), depending on the type of HFCS. Usually sucrose is 50/50 while HFCS is 45/50. Interestingly the reason it was called high fructose corn syrup was a marketing strategy. At the time fructose was recognized as sugar that was contained in fruit and therefore thought to sound healthier.
