The logic is inescapable. The NCAA should lighten up on OSU because long ago, Uof M basketball players may or may not have engaged in questionable actions. I thought this was about players selling everything but the stadium seats. I thought it was about a bunch of players and their families getting cars. U of M just got toasted for having coaches run out of season practices. Now that is a major infraction compared to Tressel’s program of paying players. ---

To get back on track, Pryor is saying he will be playing for OSU this year. 1st - Why? Isn’t there enough carnage in this mess. Why not try for a supplemental draft or is the lack of a CBA getting in the way? 2nd - Since the magnitude of the mess has escalated couldn’t the NCAA suspend him for the season? Isn’t the 5 game suspension just a self imposed OSU suspension? ---

A.J. Green got suspended 4 games for selling a jersey to an agent. If the car investigation doesn’t go anywhere, then 5 games seems like a suitable suspension. Of course, this assumes that Coach Fickell wants anything to do with Pryor. I’m of two minds about that. ---

Why bother with Pryor when you can get the same headaches and talent with more polish by signing Vince Young or Pat White. ---

The fact they dumped Tressel should tell you the problems were far more severe than you Buckeyes are pretending. There is no way he gets pushed out if they could sweep it away. It is bad and as time goes on more and more will come out. Tressel was in hot water before he went to OSU. He did not go clean slate. he jumped right back in the mud. ---

The fact they forced Tressel’s resignation tells me they’re really, _really_ worried about the threat of institutional penalties. So far, everything’s been individual penalties, and that’s where Gee and Smith are hoping it stays. They think by throwing Tressel to the wolves they can possibly save their own hides. Which brings up this: As obviously hypocritical as Tressel has been in constructing the image that continues to confound Buckeye fans, he was sincere about one thing. He obviously did have a great affection for the program. He could have gone the Mike Leach route and fought it tooth and nail. Instead, he did one last service and played scapegoat for his bosses. ---

It’s probably in his best interest to show off his athletic abilities for another season in college to try and restore his image. 2 - The NCAA is still investigating, so yeah, Pryor could possibly get harsher punishment. The thing about the NCAA investigating this stuff is that it’s in their best interest to brush these things aside while making a show of being concerned. They’ve shown multiple times that they will not act on rule breakers until the national media shoves in in everyone’s face to the point the NCAA can’t ignore it anymore. ---

The NFL lockout makes it tough on players who want to leave the dirty OSU program. Their options are limited now. ---
