The Negro Community Frowns Upon Your Shenanigans

Some serious ignorance here. 99.99%+ of the people who read and post on /b/ have nothing to do with child porn and are disgusted by it. When child porn is posted, it deleted as soon as a moderator becomes aware of it, usually within minutes and the IPs are shared with the authorities. Of course most child porn posters hide behind proxies. Child porn is explicitly against the rules there.

From what I understand, the owner(s) are very careful to allow only drawings, cartoons, and illustrations. Any actual child porn (photos) is quickly removed.

Ignorance, hardly. Just scanned the first page and found the word “nigger” used 13 times with several “fag” and “faggot” usages as well.

It’s the internet’s stopped up toilet.

Need a little help moving those goal posts? What does any of that have to do with child porn?

I never said anything about child portn I said /b/ was a sewer. My example backs that up, so no, I don’t need any help with goal posts I haven’t moved.

I saw your post as confirming Spit’s. No one could argue that /b/ isn’t a sewer. That said, I don’t think that the majority there is really racist or homophobic. In fact, gay male porn threads flourish there. People are just trying to be as offensive and juvenile as possible.

I understand that it is deleted, but the fact is that for any image deleted, another appears in its place, thereby I have full knowledge before I click /b/ that there will be an image there. Doesn’t that make anyone who visits guilty of viewing illegal images?

I see your point but I don’t think that a very good case could be made. You aren’t going there with that intent and the majority of what is posted there is not that kind of content. I browse /b/ from time to time and I don’t come across that stuff that often. Maybe I’m just lucky.

I have no idea what this “/b/” is; I presume it’s some kind of euphemism. I frown upon these kinds of shenanigans.

No, of course it doesn’t, that’s absolutely ridiculous. Some people just go there for the sick and bizarre humour and really don’t want to see the child porn stuff. Should people be prosecuted for using this site if people started trying to spam the SDBM with links to such images?

You make it sound like the thousands (millions?) of users there are all child porn addicts.

I would say that there definitely needs to be better moderation of it, but it’s not like it gets posted as much as you seem to think it does. Though I guess you haven’t really spent any time there, so you wouldn’t know, right?

4-chan is widely regarded as the basement of the internet. b-chan is it’s unmoderated subforum- the dark subbasement of the internet. It’s very crass and juvenile. You don’t register or log in to post. It’s really a free for all. But it’s also where most internet memes are born.

Oh. [adjusts monocle] I see. Carry on, then.

If not born, it’s where they really take off. Believe it or not, lolcats started there too.

Indeed, true. Here’s Wiki’s very dry take on Lolcats.

Quoth Wiki:
These images usually consist of a photo of a cat with a large caption characteristically set in a sans serif font such as Impact or Arial Black. The image is, on occasion, digitally edited for effect. The caption generally acts as a speech balloon encompassing a comment from the cat, or as a description of the depicted scene. The caption is intentionally written with deviations from standard English spelling and syntax, featuring strangely-conjugated verbs, but a tendency to converge to a new set of rules in spelling and grammar. The text parodies the grammar-poor patois stereotypically attributed to Internet slang. Frequently, lolcat captions take the form of phrasal templates.

Those guys are a hoot!

Store what they want. If they want to make something stick in a court of law, I’ll be laughing all the way through the process. I get all my funniest pics to pass on to my mates from /b/, and some of the Outrage and Bawwwww threads are hilarious. If glancing at a thumbnail of an occasional child porn image makes someone a pedo, society is fucked.

Ya know, it’s people like you that really bring this place down. I am asking a genuine question about the legal merits of returning to a forum that has known illegal images, and you have to bring the snark. Why? What good does it do to be a smart alec in GQ?

I peruse /b/ whenever something of interest from somewhere else has caused me to investigate further. Boxxy would be a prime example. Years ago, I used to hang out in there with a couple of people from the #SDMB chat on IRC, however I grew up.

I never once claimed that everyone there was a child porn addict, my question is that with a pattern of viewing /b/, could a case be made that you are doing it simply for the child images to skirt the law of downloading? Also, I have refreshed /b/ multiple times in the past few mins, and I have seen 2 separate images. Obviously, I do not expect the FBI to knock my door down, but it is “absolutely ridiculous” to think that these images do not occur with regularity.

I suspect the guy just has no sense of humor, and decided to yell “racists!”. It’s my understanding that this kind of prank is just what firemen do, and they do it to everybody. When my dad was promoted and transferred to a new city years and years ago, he had to move to the new city several months ahead of the rest of the family. Rather than rent an apartment, he ended up living at the local fire station (he was a police officer himself). And the firemen pulled one prank after another on him. They removed the labels from all his canned food, so dinner was always a surprise. They short-sheeted his bed. They put a bicycle tire inner tube under his mattress, connected to a compressed air bottle, and when he went to sleep they inflated the tube until it exploded under him. They ran a wire under his sheets, connected to a car battery (he turned that one around on them, though). He thought it was all hilarious, and recognized it for what it was: a juvenile initiation ritual.

FWIW, I looked through /b/ this morning. After looking through probably a thousand different images, here’s a (rough) breakdown:

Unambiguously child porn: 1 (which I hope to Og has been removed by now)

Contains nudity of someone who may or may not be under 18: ~5

Contains someone who is unambiguously under 18, but fully clothed: 1

Cartoon images that could go either way: ~25

Totally not child porn by any stretch of the imagination: ~968.

I’m sorry, I just opened this thread again to see the picture again. It cracks my shit up.
