The Never-ending NBA Playoffs

I’m pretty much in awe of Orlando’s shooting this series. The main knock on their offense was that if they weren’t hitting their 3s they struggled. Problem with that is if you’re capable of consistently shooting the lights out, like Orlando is, that limitation isn’t such a big deal. Not to mention their great ball movement. How many times have the Cavs been a defender short rotating around the perimeter?

If LeBron has to go 37-14-12 for the Cavs to eek out a victory at home, they’re going to get blown out in Orlando. It’s not even going to be a contest. They still had a fucked up offense and the only ball movement came from LeBron. There still tons of bad shots taken – and just because they went in (Mo Williams, I’m talking to you) doesn’t mean they were good shots.

Prediction: Orlando by at least 20 in game 6.

And yes, Varejao is a douchebag. I don’t know who I like less, him or Joakim Noah. Oh, maybe Sasha Vujacic. Yeah, I hate Noah the most.

What the hell are you talking about? He’s just about the quietest superstar in American pro sports.

How many technicals does he have in the playoffs? Like 6? Yeah, real quiet guy.

That would put him on the order of Rasheed Wallace, who also talks too much, not Terrell Owens. Except Howard makes a consistent effort and plays hard. Owens screwed up several teams and trashed former teammates. The worst thing Howard has done is get a few Ts and criticize the Ron Jeremy lookalike who coaches him.

ETA: And come to think of it, Howard only carps a fraction as much as Wallace did. He used to be good for 20 or 30 technicals a year. Howard probably doesn’t have that many in his career.

And of course, those are all legit.

Howard had 14 techs this year, fourth behind 'Sheed, Stephen Nutcase Jackson and Carmelo Anthony. The year before that, he had seven and tied for 24th overall with such notorious primadonnas as Chauncey Billups, Dirk Nowitzki and Steve Nash.

He’s got five in the playoffs. The last was canceled because it was a flat-out moronic call. He’s feeling the pressure and he does need to dial it back because he can’t afford to get suspended. The punch at Dalembert was stupid. But the comparison to Owens is ridiculous.

Lay off the Stephen Jackson. I have a gigantic soft spot for that guy. Besides that whole punching-the-fans thing (which I realize is a massive strike against him) he’s one of the most well-liked and respected guys in the league. He’s got chutzpah to spare.

All you need to know about him is Tim Duncan called him the best teammate he’s ever had. That’s saying something, right? Just don’t throw a beer at him. Or anyone on his team. Because he will punch your face.

And Howard does not equal T.O. That’s laughable.

That says more about the league than it does about him. I could understand Artest flipping out when somebody threw a beer at him, although he overreacted by a factor of about a million. Nobody even threw a beer at Jackson, he just ran into the stands and started hitting people. It was fucking crazy.

Oh, he’s fucking crazy. It’s just crazy with a reason. Everything I’ve read just points to a rabid and borderline insane amount of loyalty. He will fight somebody’s grandma to protect a teammate. Which, in a league filled with a fair amount of petulant, me-first lunatics, I respect.

Plus, I’m a Warrior fan and was absolutely horrified when he was traded here and, over the last few seasons, have grown to love the guy. Don’t make me punch you, Marley.

Okay, but just don’t tell Jackson where I live. Because he’s still a maniac.

I used to watch the early-90s Trailblazers routinely blow leads of 30 or 40 points. I happens.

They got those leads because of a combination of them shooting incredibly well and orlando shooting incredibly bad to start off games. Neither of those things is susteinable so the lead slowly (sometimes fastly) evaporates.

I was expecting Denver to make it to game 7, that was kinda dissapointing.

Nah. We match up much better against the Lakers.

It does rob me of the ad campaign I was hoping to pitch to Adidas, though: shots of the Kobe and LeBron puppets smacking themselves in the forehead as the camera slowly pans up to show Dwight Howard and Carmelo Anthony pulling their strings.

Yeah, I know those puppets don’t have strings. But still…

That is true but we would have had homecourt against Denver, and Nelson played a huge part in both our wins against the Lakers. Eitherway i meant dissapointing for Denver, i really thought they had it in them to push it to 7 and make a game of it.

Turkoglu should have been ejected for going at LBJ’s eyes like that.

They’re also calling fouls everytime somebody even looks at Dwight Howard.

In fairness, I think that was Rashard.

Magic can’t be happy about LBJ’s outside shooting this game already. He’s looking locked in and smooth.

Are the Cavs EVER going to stop standing around and letting the Magic quare up for those open threes all the time. The Cavs kill themselves every time they get a run going by not playing defense and letting Orlando play Horse at the other end.

Look at Coach Jeremy crying because the Cavs weren’t automatically whistled for a phantom foul on that last skirmish under the bucket with Howard.

Great move by LeBron to get his own rebound and stuff it in before the end of he quarter.
