I’ve seen this movie a dozen times at least, but I have yet to figure out what the heck the boy (ok, I’ve forgotten his name; Sebastion or Bastion?) gives the Princess. It’s supposed to be his mother’s name, but he yells it out during a wind storm and I can never make it out. I didn’t like the second half as well. Wasn’t there a _Neverevending Story II_? I wonder if it completed it. Anyone know where I can find the theme song? ---

Do not, repeat **DO NOT** , watch NeverEnding Story II and ESPECIALLY not III. The first sequel did try to sort of follow on with the story, where Bastian is in Fantastica (Fantasia) and starts to forget what his home was like and who he really is. But it had no charm, no sense of wonder, and worst of all it was too flashy and showy, the effects were too deliberate. Not to mention the dumb scene in the Silver City that had no point, the ugly new Childlike Empress, and a different Falkor voice! Ugh… The third movie is just shit, don’t even bother with it. Moon child? How true was the movie to the book? I admit, despite having seen it several times, I’ve still misremembered some of the details of the movie. But I do remember Bastian saying at least once that, if he could name the Childlike Empress, he’d name her after his mother, because she had a good name. Was that really supposed to have been his mother’s name? I’m sorry, I know I sound like a dope, but, y’know, it may be a good name for a Childlike Empress in a land of imagination and fantasy, but… umm… hmm. I guess I will have to read the book. I don’t remember any mention in the movie about him (Bastian Balthazar Bux) naming the Childlike Empress after his mother. I’ve only seen it twice quite a while ago, though. Maybe he said that, but then decided that Moon Child was her proper name. It was pretty true to the book, but there was some fiddling with Atreyu’s adventures, and the ending was different. ---

In the movie, Bastian does say he would give the Childlike Empress his mothers name, however, when the time comes, Bastian throws open the window and shouts the name…that is completely drowned out by wind, thunder and lightning. Personally, I thought this was a great touch to the movie because it allows the viewer to project the name that they had been thinking of. I have never read the book - but would like to. ---
