**omni-not** : Any spell-check function on a webpage would either have to require that the server go through all the detail of checking the post, recommending suggestions, and hearing back from the user (which would give our poor, mistreated machine a heart attack), or it would be a Java applet which would require downloading a friggin’ huge dictionary file the first time you used it, and possibly every time your cache is cleaned out. On the other hand, you can (and many posters do) compose your message in the word processor of your choice, check it there, and then copy and paste it into the reply window. Very long lines without blanks disrupt up the formatting of the pages. Therefore, do not use a long screen name if it contains no blanks. Also, unless absolutely necessary, do not use a long thread title or a long line in a message if it contains no blanks. ---
