According to this [Newsweek Article](http://www.newsweek.com/id/129639), this is not some pipe dream, it is already a reality and might be ready to roll out to some people as early as May of this year! It has a 10-gigabit-per-second dynamic-circuit network!

When I think back to my first modem…it was state-of-the-art technology and downloaded at the rate of 14k per minute…and it wasn’t cheap! I can remember secretly downloading a single porn photo and it taking almost three hours to download!

I don’t believe it’s commercially available, but in July 2007 I saw this [site:](http://www.usatoday.com/tech/webguide/internetlife/2007-07-19-swedish-woman-fast-internet_N.htm)

> [@](#):

> She is a latecomer to the information superhighway, but 75-year-old Sigbritt Lothberg is now cruising the Internet with a dizzying speed. Lothberg’s 40 gigabits-per-second fiber-optic connection in Karlstad is believed to be the fastest residential uplink in the world, Karlstad city officials said.

She’s a rather odd choice for a beta tester as her son who did the installation said:

> “She’s a brand-new Internet user,” Lothberg said by phone from California, where he lives. “She didn’t even have a computer before.”
>
> His mother isn’t exactly making the most of her high-speed connection. She only uses it to read Web-based newspapers.
