Yeesh they’re bad. If they don’t beat the knicks, then I’m not sure they’ll win until December 18th and the Raptors (I’m honestly not sure how they got their first 7 wins). ---

The Nets are officially worse than the Detroit Lions, I suppose. For whatever that’s worth. From here the question is if they can set the NBA record for longest losing streak, which is 24 games (the Cavaliers in 1983, spread across two seasons). SI points out that there’s one other streak that’s perhaps even more putrid - the '93-94 Mavs lost 20 games in a row, won a game, and then lost another 16. 1-36! That’s one win over almost half a season! The Nets could tie the Cavs’ record on December 13 in Atlanta, but most of the games they play between now and then are winnable in theory. The Knicks game stands out even though it’s at MSG and the Knicks did somehow beat the Suns the other day. The Nets are getting a little healthier, too. It’s being reported that Kiki Vandeweghe did not want to coach the team, but I can’t help thinking he let Tom Barisse coach the team for two games because Vandeweghe didn’t want to be the coach on the night they broke this record. If so, that would really suck. ---

Small revision: the Nets lost their last game last season, so they’ve lost 19 in a row. ---

I know the Nets are banged up, but did they start that way? The wolves beat them without Kevin Love who has missed the whole season so far. The Knicks will be pretty motivated when the face the Nets. It looks like it will be their biggest game of the year. ---

And yes, i believe they’ve been banged up since the start of the season. ---

Courtney Lee, Yi Jianlian, Keyon Dooling and Devin Harris will all miss at least 20 of the first 30 games (maybe not Harris). ---

The way they’re playing now, anyone could beat the Raptors. Toronto cannot defend, so that’s a golden opportunity for the Nets to win a game by a score like 123-120. To answer your question directly, the Raptors won some games before the rest of the league fully scouted out their horrific defense. Now that the jig’s up the Raps will keep losing until they change something. For the Nets, that means they really, really want Toronto to stay the course until their game with them. ---

Yep, 1-18 after beating the Bobcats. I loved the intro on WFAN yesterday, splicing all 18 “Nets lose” broadcaster calls in together with Alice Cooper’s _I’m Eighteen_. ---

The Nets finally won their third game of the season last night by beating the Knicks. They are 3-29 and the triumph ended a 10-game losing streak. According to SI, the Nets opening day lineup was on the court together for the first time since game two. Right now the team is on pace to win seven or eight games. The next-worst team in the league, Minnesota, has already won seven games, so the Nest are the only one with a shot at the record. Because Boston is on a three-game losing streak, the Nets are a mere 20.5 games out of first place after 32 games. ---

The truly impressive thing about the Nets season so far is that they’ve done it playing in a conference with basically 4 decent teams. ---

The Nets won their ninth game tonight. They’re 9-63, and can tie the 76ers for the worst record ever but will not own the historic mark outright. ---
