# The New Login Page is Ugly

IMHO. Note the lack of blue background on the top bar, and that the tagline is not left-aligned with the text in the top banner.

There is also a serious problem which is far,far more important:
There is NO WAY TO ACCESS THE FORUMS from the main page.
Until a couple days ago, on my phone, I would go to [www.Straightdope.com](http://www.Straightdope.com).
There was a “hamburger” icon of three lines on the top left of the screen. A press on that icon opened a menu with “message boards” as the first option.
That hamburger menu no longer appears on my screen! Instead, I have to type [boards.straightdope.com](http://boards.straightdope.com).
This is no problem for me personally\*, but it seems like a big problem for attracting newcomers to our community. If somebody new discovers the Dope website, they will never know that the forums exist.

\*(I just re-defined an icon on my phone’s desktop screen. The phone is an android gakaxy s23, if that is relevant).

When I turn my phone sideways (landscape mode) a link to the message boards shows up. When I use my desktop the link disappears when I resize the window to be very narrow. So it seems to be a decision on someone’s part to simplify the page when the display width is narrow.
I agree that the link should always be there. The message boards are too important a part of The Straight Dope to hide them.

That doesn’t work for me . Nothing changes in landscape mode.
I think there’s a setting somewhere that allows/disallows rotating the display.
But it’s a bad,bad decision by some geeky programmer! Why write code that blocks a critically important menu for half of your potential customers because they happen to have a setting different than others?
