From one tuba player to another: congratulations. Re: conical bores. Yes, a cornet _can_ be considered a tuba (not), but a fluegelhorn is closer. The bore is more conical on a fluegel. I know guys who have “soprano tubas” made from fluegel parts. Mostly trumpet players who want to be cool. Besides, the word “fluegelhorn” is an awful lot of fun to say. ---

Heh, I’ll take prayers. Good thoughts. Best wishes. I need 'em. I’m not here to change policies forged in blood. I’m not going to be a full or even a part time moderator here – emergencies/fill in only, spot check, there’s too much else on my plate – and we have great moderators here, I mostly need to stay out of their way and let them do their thing. Not going to add to the burdens of the people that do police this joint daily. Miller has enough on him as it is keeping an eye on the hot n’ heavy action in the confines of the Pit. Besides, when you get to the FY part you’ve pretty much run out of argument anyway, no? ---
