If the NY Times applied its own ethnic or gender bean counting it would also reveal some statistical overrepresentation by some groups. Looking at the backgrounds of the 12Opiniontator writers, I can see one African-American writer, no Hispanics, and at least 10 jewish writers. In the columnists I can see one black writer, no Hispanics, and the majority are Jewish.
