In response to Jack Batty again - another thing that I am prohibited from doing is purchase a firearm without having to wait 10 days to receive it. It’s nonsensical that no matter how many firearms I legally own, if I wish to purchase another I have to wait 10 days to take possession. Luckily, this may soon change as a federal district judge has just ruled that this is potentially unconstitutional when he denied a motion for summary judgment.
Cry me a fucking river. You want to talk about first world problems, Bubba can’t get the toy he wants.
It sounds to me that people like **Bone **and **Kable **don’t want one single restriction on any weapon or ammo, and no one should haven any business whatsoever taking account of how many dangerous weapons random assholes get to tote around … to the point that they threaten revolution against the evil government oppressors because they have to wait 10 whole days to get their penis-pumps, and they can’t get the toy they want in two tones.
Guess what. This is a society that we live in that has a responsibility to its citizens. And part of that responsibility doesn’t include, “do whatever you want; don’t worry, we’ll just clean up the mess afterward and carry on.”
Yes. It pisses me off.
It’s difficult, apparently, for anyone to think clearly in the wake of a momentous tragedy. That’s why, if an immediate groan of “oh no, here they come fer mah boomsticks agin” ought to be regarded as jaded and offensive, something similar can be said of the inevitable rush to pass new legislation while it’s possible to engage viscerally with people’s outraged emotions rather than their reason.
The difficulty is that one of these two impulses is at a very strong disadvantage for reasons unrelated to what policies or lack of policies might actually save lives. That outraged reaction is incredibly strong; and its source in a very natural and primal urge to protect our children makes it possible to characterize objections to its impetus as socially twisted without the necessity of demonstrating factual inaccuracy or logical flaws.
Not that I’d exactly defend Kable, but I think he was more guilty of a faux pas than of actually being a psychopath whose only concern about the Newtown shooting was how it might affect his gun rights. That’s not a reasonable thing to assume about a person, however angry their message board posts might sound from time to time.
We can only shoot one at a time, I suppose two max, so why should you care?
I thought evidence suggested the liberals were lacking in testosterone.
Right, it’s do whatever you want so long as you don’t hurt other people. Law abiding citizens like myself don’t go around hurting others.
So what are you going to do about it? Try for another gun ban?
Well, opinions are like assholes, everyone’s got one. Here’s mine District of Columbia v. Heller - Wikipedia Mine has the weight of law behind it. How about you?
It says that I have an individual right to bear arms.
You don’t like it, then get two third of each house or 3/4 of the states or call a constitutional convention and rewrite the whole damn thing. But be wary of fixing what ain’t really broke.
A lot of these will slowly melt away as the impact of Heller ripples through the legal system.
That’s right we are a nation of laws. And the highest of those laws is the constitution of the USA. Not the bible. Not the Democratic party platform. The constitution. And once the supreme court said that everyone can have a handgun, all the ideas about curbing gun violence by restricting access to firearms became pretty pointless. So you eat away at the edges and pretend that you are making a difference and spend precious little time focusing on things that can actually reduce gun violence.
Do we all dress in our mom’s underwear when no one’s looking too?
I shouldn’t be that harsh on you though. To be fair, most of your thoughts are retarded.
Do you?
No they aren’t.
You asked a question, and when given a real answer, this is your response? This tells the reader all they need to know about the validity of your opinion. I know why most of the discussion about guns is in the Pit, though once in a while it’d be nice to have an actually coherent argument rather than frothing at the mouth you’ve exhibited. But if that’s what you enjoy, please continue making yourself look silly.
If this is what you got from my post, the one answering a question you posed, then you are fucktarded. But please enlighten me, just because I’d like to be amused - what restrictions on weapons or ammo do you think are a good idea? And if implemented, what would be the efficaciousness? Go ahead, be my clown.
I’m skeptical. The current SCOTUS line up seems reluctant to take on more gun cases. And at the federal appellate level, rulings have been a mixed bag. Sure the 7th circuit is a win, but the 2nd circuit is a loss. Each and every law will need to be litigated and it takes quite a bit of time. These aren’t old laws that need to get struck, we’re talking new laws every session. Even if some of them were to be widdled away, more crop up like roaches. Think of the SAFE law in NY.
We’ll see - I’ll continue to advocate and donate.
Ten days? But I’m mad NOW!
Is it fortunate that this guy could buy one on the spot?
I’m shocked. Shocked, I tells ya! Never in a million years did I expect anyone to trot out this predictable defense. Laws, you say? Laws written by men with little to no ability to see past their own lifespan, let alone hundreds of years into the future?
I must return to my lab and devise a better argument.
No. Wait. Fuck the second amendment. That’s my argument.
Doens’t really matter what hoops you put there. If a guy what’s too, he’ll jump through them all. Like this guy:
There are lots of other countries you could live in that don’t have one.
If only we could think of examples in history where people who disagreed with some laws were invited to leave the country instead of being allowed to stay and argue against said laws. Hmmmm… let me think…
It’s only our second fucking amendment. Love it, leave it, or gripe. Just know the more you gripe, the more people think they need to purchase what you are griping about.
Right. Because the rational and mature response to, “Let’s have less guns”, is to hoard more guns.
Right, that’s how we shove your idea up your ass, with a cherry on top.
