# The next dart

As best I can tell, when auto marketers get hard up for a name for a new light truck, they haul out a map of western North America and throw a dart at it. Whatever name the dart lands nearest is the name of the pickup/SUV. So we end up with the Baja, Tahoe, Tacoma, Dakota, Durango, Laredo, Yukon, and I think I even saw one named Tucson recently. There may be more. Oh, the Silverado.

So what name will the dart land near next? And why don’t they throw darts at the eastern NA? How else are we going to get a truck named the Poughkeepsie?

Wouldn’t be too surprised to see a truck or SUV called the Cheyenne.

I wouldn’t either, but that’s because there’s been Chevy Cheyennes around for 30-some years. It’s one I didn’t think of when I posted the OP. Another is the Sierra Denali, where they must have used two darts…
