The Next Food Network Star, 6/22

That’s the one I was talking about in my last post. Drab set, boring camera angles, etc. Also: never on.

Oh sure. White chocolate is unorthodox but it ain’t grape jelly or fruit loops. I’d like to see any restaurant pull off a dish with those ingredients. I could see marmalade or apricot preserves as a glaze on a fish… but grape jelly?

When we were watching and saw that Nipa was eliminated I turned to mrsgnu and said, “This is going to be much easier to watch now.”

Up here in Canada they’ve only shown the first episode…

But so far I like Lisa. She reminds me of the girls in my social circle, down to the vintage styled clothing, and great precision hair cut. I guess it is nice to see someone like myself & my friends on TV.

What, they don’t have Star Trek in Canada?

I guess you don’t get out to galleries, or go see local theatre and local bands?

In social circles which contain artists, theatre people, and musicians - she would fit in very well.

Oh, I didn’t know he was a previous winner. I like hiw show OK; he’s down-to-earth and at least he actually instructs you, unlike Emeril’s where you never know how much of anything he uses. And D,D&Ds–yum! I love to drool over that show.

Last years winner, the gourmet next door made eight episodes and was not renewed. She and her family are now living in France. I watched the show once.

Whether or not the NFNS winner is successful or not is really irrelevant as far as this show goes. Sure, FN would like to have another personality to anchor a show, but that is gravy. The draw of this show is the competition and elimination process. Just like American Idol.
