I guess the moral is, so many lives affected in so many different ways by this one arrest.

I have to say, though, I was on pins and needles as Nas was toking up by the river that we might here a police siren and then see him arrested again, this time for drug possession.

Wow. Lives fucked all around.

Since the last couple of weeks I was thinking it was weird that the financial adviser was way too eager to offer up info to Stone. Stone’s final arguments were brilliant too IMHO.

Yeah, but I’m not so clear on why he thought they were so doomed. I thought the defense did more than enough to plant “reasonable doubt” in the minds of at least some jurors.

That judge sure was an asshole!

I think it was Naz admitting he didn’t know if he killed Andrea or not that was the problem and the prosecutor did a good job of pointing out why would he run/not help her/etc if he didn’t kill her.

Yes, of course. But they still, IMHO, raked the investigation over the coals for not looking at one single other suspect when there were several.

>
> She’s staring at the blade, explaining to the jury how the knife had been stabbed into the girl so many times, and you can see the look on her face that that blade is way too clean to have been used in that murder.

I didn’t get that impression at all. The knife was in his jacket pocket, which would have removed blood. He could have wiped it on her clothing. It’s been handled by cops and lawyers. It’s a smooth surface that liquid would not stick well to.

I think it was more a case of Box bringing her additional information and then walking out during her summation. It rattled her confidence in the case and made her start thinking along other lines.

This. It had nothing to do with blood on the knife. She respects Box and his leaving made her realize he no longer thought Naz was guilty.

The only problem I had with the show was the total character assassination of Chandra. Until the end she was the picture of professionalism. Then she kisses Naz, makes the bad decision to put Naz on the stand (which ultimately was good I guess), and then smuggles in drugs for him? This crazy behavior didn’t mesh with the character they had developed. It was seemed like just a plot point to get to the mistrial, which ultimately wasn’t even needed.

Yeah the kiss seemed off for her character, but ok, not out of the realm of possibility given stress. Her smuggling drugs in her hoohaa was just absurd and unnecessary as a plot device. Whole thing should have been cut.

The NYT reviewer was also disappointed in the clumsy handling of Kapoor, basically using the jailhouse crush reveal as a device to allow Turturro to deliver the summation (he’s the star, after all). But I think it’s also in keeping with the dark nature of this series to show how many lives end up in the toilet because of one mistake.

The prosecutor also pushed the Medical examiner to stretch the truth about the cut on Nas’s hand and how it must have come from when he was stabbing Andrea. It didn’t, if you recall. But he testified that it could have, on guidance from the prosecutor.

I think the doubt that got planted by the defendants witnesses plus Box plus her own inside info about the ME’s report made her change her mind.

Pushing the ME in her direction didn’t seem like that big a deal to her when she was sure Nas was guilty but it sure made a much bigger deal to her when she wasn’t so sure.

Agreed. He deserves an Emmy for sure. Everyone was fantastic in this actually.

I agree. Her smuggling drugs for him was just dumb and worthless all around. It added nothing.

I thought the acting, sets, and overall look of the show was excellent. The writing and editing needed to be tightened up a bit. There were too many [“Chekhov’s gun”](https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Chekhov's_gun) plot points that were introduced and then completely dropped. There were several visual clues that ended up being nothing (e.g. Many references to the deer head on the wall that went nowhere.) It started out very strong. I think they spent a lot of time finessing the first couple of episodes and then got lazy for the rest.

The lawyer smuggling drugs was a terrible plot point overall. I could maybe understand the kiss in the heat of the moment, but for her to smuggle drugs in her bra and vagina was ridiculous and completely out of character. If they thought that was important, they needed to develop her character in a way that we would believe she would do that. As it was, it seemed like a cheap ratings grab that you’d see in a failing TV show.

The only angle I got from the drug smuggling was that she wanted to put Naz on the stand, but since Petey checked out, there was no way for their crew to get drugs into the jail. And Naz was starting to jones, putting him on the stand (or even in the courtroom) while he was in withdrawl would be a disaster. The only way for her to present a “normal” Naz was to get him some drugs.

Agreed. That’s the only thing that makes any sense at all. If Naz was smoking heroin it especially makes sense, but in most of the scenes with drugs it appeared he was smoking crack, which doesn’t make sense for her to smuggle in.

I agree that’s the plot reason, but it seemed very contrived. They didn’t explain enough why she would take such a large risk for this. She’s risking being disbarred, fired, and even jailed for doing this. Putting Naz on the stand doesn’t seem like a compelling enough reason for her to risk throwing everything away. If Naz doesn’t take the stand and she loses the case, oh well, that happens. There’s not a big enough downside for her to decide to smuggle drugs.

And on top of all of that, it appeared that she smuggled Adderall - or at least some sort of pill. The first pill from her bra was clear, but I’m pretty sure those were pills in the cooch stash, too.

The other problem I had with the finale was how Camp never bothered to see what Andrea was doing immediately before she got in Naz’s cab. Literally minutes before she is having a fight on the street with someone.

Also, it’s quite a coincidence that the night she is murdered she comes across the crazy hearse driver amd a guy in front of her house that has a record of breaking in and stabbing people. Or maybe that’s the point? That women are surrounded by men who could commit violence against them at any moment?

I’ve read a lot of posts referring to Chandra acting out of character, but was she? What do we really know about her? She was just one of the many attorneys at the firm, probably fighting to get known and get involved in big cases so she could climb the ladder. We never saw much of her home life or really knew much of her personal life (she said her boyfriend had just broken up with her, but was that true?)

I think many here are judging her character on how she looks, an attractive young woman trying to make it in the big bad world of law practice. I don’t know, she came off to me as a young attorney, seeing her first big opportunity and unfortunately making wrong choices to win at all costs. (who knows, she may have seen colleagues at the firm do similar things to bend, break the rules and succeed.
