> re a Jim and Pam break-up… are there any examples of sitcoms that ended on a major downer like that after years and years of relatively happy times?

There was a sitcom called “I’m With Her” which only lasted one season–the premise was a movie star starts dating a regular guy. They break up in the last episode…presumably they thought they’d get renewed and fix it in the first episode of the 2nd season or they were perfectly fine ending on a down note.

Speaking off Ryan, what happened to him & Kelly? I know the actors are busy with Mindy’s new show, but how was the characters’ absence explained?

In the first ep of the season, Kelly made a huge production out of going to Miami and giving her winter coats and everything to all the suckers still in Scranton, not realizing that she was going to Ohio. Ryan followed up by leaving the office and showing up at the bus stop with a garbage bag filled with his clothes heading to Ohio. It was a very funny scene, imo.

That’s what she said!

(I hated having to do that. I will accept my punishment.)

This is my take as well.

I think Jim got so upset that Pam failed a video because he felt very guilty about having to miss his daughter’s recital in the first place. I think Pam was flippant about having screwed up the video, but I also understand why she didn’t have a lot of room for sympathy for Jim – he’s been working his butt off on his new endeavor, but Pam seems to feel she’s not getting a lot of support/understanding from Jim about how difficult it is to be running the show back home.

But like a lot of ladies (myself included), she’s working her butt off without complaining to her husband, because he’s busy complaining about his own situation. She probably doesn’t want to add to his ever-increasing problems.

Gosh, now that I realze that, I feel a little more sympathy for Pam than I did earlier. I thought she was being WAY whiny – but she’s whining to us, the viewers, and to the camera crew – she’s not talking about these issues with her husband, who’s the guy she \*should \*be talking to about stuff like this.
