That’s true, but this is a case where I don’t mind because I like seeing creative or funny costumes. I can see why it’s an attractive thing for the writers and actors to want to do, and I do find it entertaining.

Some people in real life really do put a lot of effort into costumes – not usually a whole office, but you can see some cool costumes at nighclubs and other places.

Absolutely, it’s fun to see the creative costumes, especially where the costume matches the person well. Like I thought that Kevin as Michael Moore was clever. I guess I’m just annoyed that the costumes I see never look that good. (If I ever win the lottery, I want to have a costume party but hire professional makeup artists and costumers to help with people’s costumes.)

> In the thread on the Modern Family Halloween episode, someone pointed out how television characters always make a much bigger deal of Halloween than do people in the real world. I thought that was also true of this episode, where the costumes and makeup seemed far too elaborate for office workers (Kevin’s fake beard as Michael Moore, for instance). But they look appropriate for costumes that were put together by professional Hollywood makeup artists and costumers. (And the slideshow on the website showed two or more elaborate costumes for each person.)

Jim’s past costumes were pretty realistic, like Book Face.
