Didnât watch the retrospective yet, since I figured there would be some (at least minor) finale spoilers.
As for the finale itself, not a âIâll remember this alwaysâ one, but a decent enough wrap-up.

Loved it.
The Steve Carell cameo was perfect. It happened just as I was wondering if they were going to work it in and thinking it would be toward the end. Having him have too big a part would have deadened his well-done departure from the series, but this was just right. I love that Michael Scott (and presumably Holly) have lots of kids!

I think itâs done airing everywhere by now, but how about if you havenât seen it, you donât read the thread.
Who was played Erinâs mom? I recognized the voice (or at least I think I did) so as soon as she asked if Erin was mad at her mom, I figured it was going to be her, it killed me that it took Erin so long to pick up on it. Of course, when Ed Jr stood up to ask the next question, it was pretty clear where they were going with that, but after watching like 6 episodes of AD for the past two weeks since theyâve been on so often, itâs hard to take him seriously (and see him with hair).

Am I high or did the same actor play both Mose and a Mose-like member of the bachelor party w/ a longer beard?? The actorâs name is Michael Schur.

The longer beard one is Badger from Breaking Bad. He pops up in various roles all over TV but you can always tell itâs him by his voice.

Thanks for clarifying! Iâve never seen Breaking Bad but on looking up Matt Jones, he does have distinctive features that are similar to Michael Schur.
Good to see Ed Begley Jr as the dad! đ Thatâs the part that made me tear up.

The retrospective had a lot of funny clips, as one might imagine.
As for the finale, Iâm afraid I have to disagree with the group so far and say that it fell short for me. The yearâs jump ahead made for an artificial emotional tone, as the characters are all going on about big changes and missing one another and how great it is to finally get back together, when we the viewers just saw them all together in their usual roles last week. It wasnât a long-awaited reunion for us.
The panel was just too treacly, with the âyou guys are so greatâ questioners. Similarly, the cast members emotionally thanking the documentary crew rang false to me. Because there isnât really any documentary crew, it just came off as the writers scripting tributes to their own show. More âarenât we greatâ moments, in other words.
I didnât hate it; it was no _Seinfeld_ finale. Lots of it was funny in bits and pieces. I was pleased that Carell showed, even if only for a moment. I just couldnât warm up to the overall plot and emotional arc.

I loved it. Far exceeded my expectations, and last week when I said âthis episode wasnât very good I wish the week before was the finaleâ I clearly didnât know what I was talking about. This finale hit all the right notes for me. Among my favorite series finales.
I wish there were a way you could know when you were _in_ the good olâ days before you leave them.

My wife called that right away. She has a much better memory for these things than I; I donât even remember the first time.

This is probably one of the best episodes of the last 5 years. And I actually mean that as a compliment. Itâs just too bad it couldnât have aired 5 years ago.
