Or suit jackets. And didn’t Jim have a bag over his shoulder at the last weigh-in? I saw a strap over his shoulder.

Another funny line was from Dwight, after dropping Phyllis off in the bad part of town. “But I kept your purse!”

I liked it. Roses and candles get played out. The Grand Romantic Gesture in this was the fact that he couldn’t wait to do it.

Did anyone else notice (or was it just me?) that Daryl was eating while weighing the crew, and that he seemed to be gaining weight each time they were weighed?

I think this episode made it clear (to me, anyway) that the documentary crew are members of the office now (just co-workers). All pretense of actually making a documentary at some point have tacitly been dropped. I can’t imagine this actually happening in real life, but since it is a television show, I can give them some leeway.

I don’t think they paid extra for Ryan - I think that was just Michael talking.

I think Phyllis is as big a bitch as Angela. First she stole Pam’s wedding, and now she’s blackmailing Angela. Nice.

I thought so, too.

Also, yeah, I thought I noticed Darryl getting big, too. Like, almost Michael Klumpf big. What was up with that?

Why not? There are real documentary filmmakers who work on projects sporadically for years or decades before completing a work or finding a distributor.

When you think about it, these documentarians don’t actually have to spend 365 days a year in the office.

I hope that’s not how Michael negotiates his sales. “I’ll pay anything, I just want Ryan.”

I think this was a fantastic way to start off the season. I hope they consider adopting this 'fast forward summer recap" method for future premiers, as it set’s up scenario’s you look forward to seeing fleshed-out and elaborated upon. I can’t wait to see more of Ryan in his new position!

This show isn’t always gold, but you have to respect how the writers take conventional story ideas, build them up, then throw them out the window. They just seem to let things evolve on their own. I don’t even predict where the where plot lines are going anymore, and have no real “expectations”.

Can someone please explain the tapeworm joke to me? I think I missed something. What did he really give her?

The fact that Pam’s stepping off the scale made the net weight change by 226 lbs. made me question whether the scale was ever accurate.

He didn’t say, except that it wasn’t a tapeworm. I’m guessing that it doesn’t really matter what he gave her – it was just a typical Creed money-making scheme.

The last time I was at the doctor’s office they didn’t even have me take off my (winter) coat. I agree with Sigmagirl; corporate has no clue Ryan’s back. They’d flip if they found out Michael even allowed him to set foot on company property (or at least a real company would).

It didn’t - it changed by 126. Leading to Holly’s sympathetic comment on Kevin’s calculation: “Close . . . math is hard.” And Pam’s interjection: “No, not close.”

I liked the fruit flies in the vending machine - total throwaway bit, but it made me giggle.

> -I don’t buy that Ryan would come back. He was disgraced, his ex works there, he was once their boss-- there’s no way he would come back and be a temp receptionist. Way to much of a stretch to be believable.

It isn’t like it was really his choice, though. he technically isn’t working for Dunder-Mifflin, he’s back working for the temp company and Michael begged the temp company to give him Ryan. Since it’s implied that Ryan is on some kind of probation, he probably isn’t allowed to quit his job (at least that is often a condition of parole or probation, so it could be fanwanked for the purposes of the show that it’s a condition for Ryan). It feasible as a writing device that he has to accept the humiliation of being a receptionist at DM Scranton or go to jail.
My favorite line of the episode was Michael’s restrained _non_ answer to Dwight feeding him an all-time “that’s what she said” straight line.

Since Kelly mentioned it was from Mexico, I assumed Creed just sold her the leftovers from a [bottle of tequila](http://www.straightdope.com/columns/read/1334/why-is-there-a-worm-in-bottles-of-tequila).

What cracked me up was the long painful pause while everyone on the scale sloooooowly performed the subtraction, and got it wrong anyway.

Holly was looking pretty good in this ep. I kept doing one of those, “Dude!” and dropping my jaw every time Michael messed it up with Holly in this ep. So frustrating!
