In happier news, I am taking a trial run on the recipe this afternoon.
The JD sauce was whipped up yesterday, and the ribs have been bathing in it for about 24 hours now. I know that’s overkill, but it just worked out that way.
I’ll keep you posted on the success rate of this year’s batch of sauce.

**Dave** My partty will consist of me and only me unless I manage to acquire a girlfriend in the next month or so. Might be safest to count on me as being two people just to be on the safe side of things.

Do you hear that cry of anguish all the way over there? Mr. Hawk has finally nailed our travel plans down. As usual, the freebie-miles tickets don’t leave us a lot of choice. We arrive in New York on…
June 16th.
I don’t even get a bagel! 😭 (Isn’t there a weeping smiley… er, a weepey… for moments like this?)
As soon as I can pry the **Hawklette** off the phone I will call Mom and Dad and tell them. Of course, we leave on July 14th, so I will not get to go to RenDope, either. At least there is hope that the July 4th weekend will see some of **Dave’s** ribs, if not any Dopers. ☹

I already did.
And the ribs this weekend were primo. I didn’t have enough molasses in the house, unfortunately, but that condition will not prevail in June, I promise. The Zen-like balance of flavors will not be skewed for such an event as RibFest.
Well worth the trip, kids. You got a little less than a month to get on board. I’ll post an update tomorrow morning.

If you have folding chairs or lawn chairs, you might want to bring them. Also, maybe another grill. I’ll supply the charcoal.

Nyet. We are not stuffing the Fleetwood Brougham.
First off, we are not stuffing the Fleetwood Broughams.
Secondly, I’ll be bringing **MsRobyn, Aaron, Airman Doors, TruePisces (maybe), Verrain (maybe), and a possible mystery guest to be announced later if it happens (which it’s not definite, so don’t getcher hopes up or nothin’)**, as well as myself. So the Fleetwoods are out, as they’re just Broughams and not Series 75 limos or formal sedans, there won’t be enough room in either of my Cadillacs.
So I’m bringing the Roadmaster wagon. We can most assuredly stuff that.
Thirdly, WE ARE NOT STUFFING THE FLEETWOOD BROUGHAMS.
Fourth, there is no fourth item on this list.

Well, it looks as if my Mom is going to be here during that weekend (she’s coming to visit for a month to get a few of my bad habits replaced with better ones–don’t ask). I’m trying to talk her into going, but she doesn’t want to talk about it until after she gets here (May 20). So I’m still on the maybe list, but now it’s _two_ maybes instead of one.
Re the side dish: I’m going to see if anyplace around here sells sesame noodles. Failing that, I’ll ask a friend of mine if he’d mind sharing the recipe. Does that sound ok with you?

All systems are go.
I spoke to my Rib Pimp today, and he only needs a couple days notice to place my ribs on his restaurant order. In other words, if I go in on Monday, June 9, I’ll be able to pick up our ribs on Thursday, June 12.
This means the cutoff date of June 1 stands.
In the meantime, I’m going to spend time this week compiling directions to _Casa Dave-Guy_ from all points of the compass and emailing everyone on the definite list.
Along with that email will be my name and address. PLEASE send me a check or money order to cover the $5.00 cost of each adult in your party. We’ve already laid out some money for the soft drinks, plates, cups and eating utensils. I still need to pay for the ribs and buy the ingredients for the sauce as well as the charcoal and lighter fluid. It’s a large outlay for me, and only five bucks per person for you. I’d appreciate your cooperation.
If you’re definitely planning on coming, you definitely need to post to this thread and say so if you’re not already on the Definite List. We’re coming down to the wire, and while I’ll probably wind up buying a rack or so extra, don’t count on just appearing and still getting fed.
I mean, that’s just rude…

**Cosmo,** I’ll do my best. I mentioned it once in an LJ comment, but no response. I’ll give it another try.
**Nemo** , under the circumstances, just bring your fin with you and fork it over when you get here. A few instances like this won’t break the bank; I was just trying to avoid refinancing the homestead for the sake of one barbecue.
You wanna send me an email with your home addy, and I can mail you directions? Just include RibFest in the subject line, so I don’t think you’re spamming me with internet porn website links.
Everyone else, please let me know what you’re bringing. We could probably use more veggies and dip, and possibly biscuits or a loaf of Italian bread, or macaroni and cheese would work too. But we gotta firm things up. We got a month.
