As usual, Lib incorrectly assumes my motives. But I do agree with him, our exchanges are by no means Hellish.

Polycarp: I’ve been called messy many times, but Messiah? It ain’t me, babe.
pldennision: I used falsifiable in the sense used by Karl Popper: A proposition is falsifiable if if it is subject to being demonstrated to be false. For example: All protons contain 3 quarks. It may turn out to be true, in which case that demonstration will never occur. But if it’s false, at least in theory, it’s the type of statement that falls under the domain of science, so it can be demonstrated to be false.
A commonly discussed non-falsifiable proposition: creationism. Creationism is just a theory, evolution is just a theory; why can’t they be taught side by side in public schools? Answer: creationism is not a scientific theory as it’s non-falsifiable. There’s no accumulation of evidence you could get, even in theory, that could prove that the creation of all the various species by an unspecified outside force didn’t occur. Evolution, on the other hand is a scientific theory, as statistical studies of genes of different species could provide evidence of problems with evolution. (They haven’t yet.)
It seemed like several threads lately have been revisiting ground covered in this thread so, as they would say on LB, “bump.”
