Cauliflower? That might be a dealbreaker for me.

Bellini sounds good too.

ETA: Explanations - I’ve had blood sausage and hated it, so blood pudding has no allure.

The idea of the burning pain from raw super-hot peppers appeals to me not at all.

I’m not a sashimi fan generally, so raw fish that might make me ill has no draw as well.

Meanwhile I don’t care for most bivalves, though I’ve tried them all. Similarily Lapsang Souchong does nothing for me and Krispy Kremes are kind of nasty if you ask me. Don’t like lox. My father was a huge sauerkraut fan - I have no wish to relive that nastiness from my youth. And I won’t drink gin after that…incident :p.

I’m not big on cauliflower, but I like aloo gobi. I didn’t even know what it was till I looked it up on Wikipedia and saw the picture; then it was “oh yeah, they have that stuff at the Indian buffet with all that other unknown stuff and it’s great stuff”. Verrrry yummy.

**1. Venison**
2. Nettle tea
**3. Huevos rancheros**
4. Steak tartare
**5. Crocodile** (this and the rattlesnake were both in sausage form, so I can’t comment on the flavor)
**6. Black pudding** (the British sausage, not the D&D ooze)
**7. Cheese fondue**
**8. Carp** (probably, though I don’t recall specifically
**9. Borscht**
10. Baba ghanoush (I’m not certain on this one… I’ve had Middle Eastern foods that might have contained it)
**11. Calamari** (heavenly or terrible, depending on how it’s prepared)
**12. Pho** (I think so… A family friend runs a chain of Vietnamese restaurants, and it looks familiar)
**13. PB&J sandwich**
**14. Aloo gobi**
**15. Hot dog from a street cart**
16. Epoisses
17. _Black truffle_
[del]18. Fruit wine made from something other than grapes[/del] (My body doesn’t handle alcohol well… But I’ve heard that dandelion wine is very nice)
19. Steamed pork buns (But they sound fairly straightforward)
**20. Pistachio ice cream**
**21. Heirloom tomatoes**
**22. Fresh wild berries**
**23. Foie gras**
**24. Rice and beans**
25. Brawn, or head cheese
[del]26. Raw Scotch Bonnet pepper[/del] Diluted in a recipe, sure, but I’m not insane enough to eat one straight.
**27. Dulce de leche** Mmmmmmm… I have an Argentinian office-mate who makes this
**28. Oysters**
**29. Baklava** I also have a Turkish office-mate, and he always brings a bunch back
30. _Bagna cauda_ (If it’s good enough for Garibaldi, it’s good enough for me)
**31. Wasabi peas**
**32. Clam chowder in a sourdough bowl**
_ **33. Salted lassi** _ Mango lassi, sure, but salty lassi just makes me even thirstier
**34. Sauerkraut**
**35. Root beer float**
[del]36. Cognac with a fat cigar[/del] Alcohol.
37. _Clotted cream tea_ It’s probably a waste of perfectly good tea, but I’d certainly try it once
[del]38. Vodka jelly/Jell-O[/del] Alcohol again
**39. Gumbo**
**40. Oxtail** Not really any different than any other beef soup stock
**41. Curried goat**
42. Whole insects
43. _Phaal_ (As long as it’s made as a real dish, not a test of machismo/stupidity… I’ve yet to encounter an Indian dish that was too spicy for me to even try)
44. Goat’s milk
[del]45. Malt whisky from a bottle worth £60/$120 or more[/del] Again with the alcohol
[del]46. Fugu[/del] From what I understand, the only appeal of this dish is the fact that it can kill you.
**47. Chicken tikka masala**
**48. Eel** (Tastes like chicken)
_ **49. Krispy Kreme original glazed doughnut** _ (OK, so there’s no such thing as a bad donut, but Krispy Kreme isn’t a good donut, either)
50. Sea urchin
**51. Prickly pear** (Makes a wonderfull jelly)
52. Umeboshi
53. Abalone
**54. Paneer**
**55. McDonald’s Big Mac Meal**
**56. Spaetzle**
[del]57. Dirty gin martini[/del]
[del]58. Beer above 8% ABV[/del]
**59. _Poutine_** (Sort of… I’ve made it myself a couple of times, and it was good, but I’ve never had the “real” thing, so I don’t know how close I got)
_ **60. Carob chips** _ (Not _bad_, but why settle for carob when you can have chocolate?)
**61. S’mores**
**62. Sweetbreads**
63. Kaolin
64. _Currywurst_ (first I’ve heard of it, but it sounds good)
65. _Durian_ (I’ve heard that it’s wonderful, but doesn’t travel well, so you have to go to South America to eat it)
66. Frogs’ legs
**67. Beignets, churros, elephant ears or funnel cake** (I’m not sure why these are all on the same line… They’re very different)
68. _Haggis_
**69. Fried plantain**
70. Chitterlings or andouillette
**71. Gazpacho** (I think so, at least)
72. Caviar and blini (I’ve had blini, but not caviar)
[del]73. Louche absinthe[/del] (More alcohol, with extra brain-rotting goodness)
74. Gjetost, or brunost
75. Roadkill (I might, but only if it’s very fresh-- i.e., I know the driver)
[del]76. Baijiu[/del] (I’d never heard of it, but apparently it’s more alcohol)
**77. Hostess Fruit Pie**
78. Snail
79. Lapsang souchong (I’d give it a try, but I suspect I wouldn’t like it)
[del]80. Bellini[/del] (another alcoholic drink I’d never heard of)
81. Tom yum
**82. Eggs Benedict**
**83. Pocky**
84. Tasting menu at a three-Michelin-star restaurant. (Don’t think I’ve ever been to one of those)
**85. Kobe beef**
**86. Hare** (probably… Grampap hunted vermin, and wouldn’t let the meat go to waste. He never told us when, specifically, we were eating it, though)
**87. Goulash**
**88. Flowers**
89. Horse
90. Criollo chocolate
**91. Spam**
92. Soft shell crab
93. Rose harissa
**94. Catfish** (one of the tastier fish varieties)
95. Mole poblano
96. Bagel and lox
97. Lobster Thermidor
**98. Polenta**
[del]99. Jamaican Blue Mountain coffee[/del] (I’ve never yet met a coffee I’ve liked)
**100. Snake**

So that makes 52 things I’ve had and 48 I havent, of which I wouldn’t even try 12, mostly because of alcohol content. And I had to Google many of the things I haven’t tried (and a few I have).

Wait, are we counting hare as distinct from rabbit? I’ve had rabbit - can’t say I’ve had an _actual_ hare ( like one of our local jackrabbits ).

Anything not formatted specially is something I’ve not had but would try. Although I’m pretty positive I’d hate cognac & cigar, and any variety of coffee. I am always willing to try even things I say I hate, though. Not things that are likely to kill me quickly, though.

Whatever’s not on the list I have had. I may have had umeboshi, but I’m not certain.

I did find out that “clotted cream tea” is not a beverage. (‘Tea’ here refers to the meal).

You might be disappointed if you go there. Durian’s native to Southeast Asia. I have seen frozen ones in markets in the US, though. And no, it isn’t wonderful.

P.S. see my previous post about “Clotted Cream Tea”.

I’ve eaten everything on that list except:

1. Bagna cauda
2. Fugu
3. Umeboshi
4. Kaolin
5. Roadkill
6. Bellini
7. Tasting menu at a three-Michelin-star restaurant.
8. Criollo chocolate
9. Rose harissa
10. Lobster Thermidor
11. Jamaican Blue Mountain coffee (Blue Mountain “style” is as close as I’ve gotten)
12. Snake

I would try all of those. There’s nothing on the list that I would not eat again.

A lot of these weren’t memorable enough to be sure if I’ve had them or not. I didn’t bother starring everything I _would_ eat; it goes without saying.

1. **Venison** (98% I’ve had it in stew. Never gotten to have it as a steak)
2. Nettle tea
3. **Huevos rancheros**
4. **Steak tartare** Not per se, but I had raw ground beef (with lamb?) in an Ethiopean restaurant. It was pretty yummy.
5. Crocodile
6. **Black pudding** Maybe–is it the same as liverwust? If so, yum!!
7. **Cheese fondue**
8. Carp
9. Borscht
10. **Baba ghanoush**
11. **Calamari**
12. **Pho** Pretty sure, anyway. I’ve had a lot of Asian food, but I don’t always remember what it was.
13. **PB&J sandwich**
14. **Aloo gobi**
15. **Hot dog from a street cart** (but never in Chicago:()
16. Epoisses
17. Black truffle - not yet ☹
18. **Fruit wine made from something other than grapes**
19. **Steamed pork buns** I’ve had pork and I’ve had steamed buns. If I haven’t actually had a steamed pork bun, I’ve come pretty close.
20. **Pistachio ice crea** m
21. **Heirloom tomatoes**
22. **Fresh wild berries**
23. Foie gras - probably would, but not sure. Ethical concerns.
24. **Rice and beans**

28. **Oysters**
29. **Baklava**
30. Bagna cauda - sounds tasty!
31. **Wasabi peas**
32. **Clam chowder in a sourdough bowl** (Well, I’ve had clam chawdah, and I’ve had soup in a sourdough bowl. I _think_ I’ve had clam chawdah in a sourdough bowl, but I wouldn’t swear to it.) FTR, I prefer Manhattan clam chowder, but that’s not the kind you’d serve in a sourdough bowl.
33. **Salted lassi** Practically every time I go to an Indian restaurant.
34. **Sauerkraut**
35. **Root beer float** Root beer in first!
36. Cognac with a fat cigar
37. **Clotted cream tea**
38. **Vodka jelly/Jell-O** Not much of a fan, but I like the idea
39. **Gumbo**
40. Oxtail
41. **Curried goat** Oh, for that little Jamaican bbq joint in Takoma Park! Is it still there?
42. **Whole insects** 17 year cicadas. In chocolate and on pizza. Only 14 more years to wait…

44. **Goat’s milk**
45. Malt whisky from a bottle worth £60/$120 or more - _yearn_
46. Fugu
47. **Chicken tikka masala**
48. **Eel**
49. Krispy Kreme original glazed doughnut - only after they bastardized the brand. Never had a _real_ one
50. **Sea urchin** 80 - 90% sure I had this in sushi. Remember liking it, but not much else
51. Prickly pear
52. **Umeboshi**
53. Abalone
54. **Paneer**
55. **McDonald’s Big Mac Meal**

81. **Tom yum** Looks like something I’ve had. Was very, very spicy. Is that it?
82. **Eggs Benedict**
83. **Pocky**
84. Tasting menu at a three-Michelin-star restaurant.
85. Kobe beef
86. Hare
87. Goulash
88. **Flowers**
89. Horse
90. Criollo chocolate
91. **Spam**
92. **Soft shell crab**
93. Rose harissa
94. **Catfish**
95. **Mole poblano**
96. **Bagel and lox**
97. Lobster Thermidor
98. **Polenta**
99. Jamaican Blue Mountain coffee
100. Snake

Damn, I’m hungry now! Looks like there’s nothing I won’t eat. (Pretty much knew that. I’d probably try casu marzu if I had the chance. I’d chew well, though. Entric myiasis sounds pretty freaking scary.)

Do some posters here think that headcheese or brawn has something to do with brains? It doesn’t. It’s odds and ends of trimmings, the meat from the cow cheeks, etc., bits too small to go anywhere on their own, cooked in the stock made from the bones and then cooled in a form or pan where the stock gels and sets as aspic around the bits of meat. Of course, it is seasoned. My husband likes it on sandwiches, with thick slices of raw onion.
I’m not fond of it, but I’ve made it a number of times after we’ve butchered.

I’ve eaten a lot of the things on that list, but some I wouldn’t try, ever. Like fugu or roadkill!
