The one episode of a show you'd take to the desert island

Brittle Bullet, episode #5 of FLCL. The layering of images is so dense I could easily watch it over and over again and still find new things to be amazed by.

Can anyone recommend a show that illustrates how to construct a boat that will get me back to civilization and away from the desert island? And I don’t mean “Gilligan’s Island”.

Well, you could watch Lost as long as

You don’t have a son with apparently special powers to get kidnapped

The episode of *Frank’s Place * with the dead body. The single best half hour of comedy I have seen. It borrows many elements I have seen before and many more that I have seen since, but it was put together perfectly. Second for comedy would be the Basil the Rat episode of Faulty Towers.

I skimmed the above entries, but did not see any votes for The Simpsons, the Gun episode. If you are a fan; you know what I’m talking about.

2 days? But I’m mad NOW!!

Also Simpson’s, but the episode where Homer and Ned go to Vegas.
Given that we are talking TV shows. Otherwise I’d vote for 30 minutes of nekkid women.)

Finale of “Six Feet Under.”

The final episode of “Lost,” because it’ll probably be all about how to get off a desert island.

Either the episode of the pirate ship or the episode of the family vacationing in Dumpwater, Florida in Married with Children. That was a great series.

Same here.

Second choice would be “Methos” from Highlander: the Series. I love Peter Wingfield.

Hmmmm…Three Stories…Marine Biologist George…Three Stories…Marine Biologist George…

Gotta go with “The sea was angry that day my friends, like an old man in a deli trying to send back soup.”

STTNG Inner Light and Buffy’s Once More With Feeling were on my mind too. I really liked the episode of Xena where they are in the afterlife with angels and demons. And the episode of Angel where he’s human for a day. Maybe the episode where Sam goes home in Quantum Leap or the last episode. The final episode of Six Feet Under was very moving too. Once More with Feeling and the SFU episode are probably the ones i’ve rewatched the most times.

First I thought “A Hole in the World” from Angel, but in the end too sad for desert island experience, so then I thought “The Zeppo” from Buffy, since it’s pretty stand alone from the story arc and I always love it when Xander is cool, but then I thought it would wear out with repeated viewings. So I decided on the Catalina Caper episode of MST3K.

“It Looks Like a Walnut” from The Dick Van Dyke Show and “Chuckles Bites the Dust” from Mary Tyler Moore.

Those are such classics. I love both.

“Chuckles Bites The Dust” - The Mary Tyler Moore Show. Funniest half-hour ever on TV.

“Raincoats and Recipes” - Gilmore Girls The one where Luke and Loralei finally kiss. Also, Rory Gets Lucky.

“The Inner Light” - ST:TNG The only time Star Trek ever made me cry. I even bought the soundtrack just for this song.

“Noel” from season 2 of The West Wing. Tis the episode with Yo-Yo Ma and where Josh, after some uncharacteristic behavior, meets with trauma specialists regarding his behavior since the shooting.

That or TWW’s pilot, which was phenomenal. (I think Yo-Yo Ma gives “Noel” a slight edge, though.)

“Gearjammers” from The Rockford Files.

I’ve been playing this game a looong time.

“Noel” was my first choice, too! The end, with the “guy falls down a hole” anecdote that Leo tells Josh, is just…perfect.
