\*\* You Make Loving Fun\*\* Fleetwood Mac.

There are just some notes the human voice has NO business hitting. I love Chris’ voice, but GAWD she tries a dozen or so times and fails miserably.
" _Yooooooooooooooouuuuuu_ make lovin’ fun."

I’m suprised my glass Knick-Knacks have survived.

Not my favorite album, but Simon & Garfunkel’s Bookends – Voices of Old People (or whatever it’s called)

Not that I don’t like this track – I love it actually. But it completely ruins the rhythm of the album.

“Ice Cream Man” off of Closing Time by Tom Waits.

Every other song off that album I can hear over and over again or look forward to like an old friend, but the moment that song starts I cringe and press ‘skip’. It hits me as out of context based on the rest of the album.

_Ignoreland_ off of the otherwise superlative **Automatic for the People** by R.E.M. was the first song I thought of when I saw the topic.

The last track on the Beatles’ “Revolver”. Ravi Shankar’s sitar crap took valuable studio time away from the good songs they could have been making.

it’s not _bad_, but it’s certainly one of the weaker songs on the album.

_Superstar_ off of the Josh Joplin Group album **Useful Music**. How he could think this irritating pile of dreck deserved a place on the same album as _Camera One_ and a number of other pretty competent songs is beyond me. Hey, Josh, guess what - you don’t sound even remotely good doing that weird, pseudo rap thing you do on that track. It’s flat out crappy. And that annoying keyboard line you tie it all together with? It makes me want to jump off a tall building. It really is irritating.

I would also agree about _You Make Loving Fun_. For some reason, as a matter of fact, it seems that every song Chris McVie wrote for the **Rumours** just didn’t work on it. Not that they were bad, per se (though I hate _Oh Daddy]_) or that Chris McVie is a poor musician, it’s just that they don’t seem to fit particularly well. And they could have been arranged and performed far better than they were.

The first one that comes to mind is “The Ballad” from Millencolin’s “Pennybridge Pioneers.”

Nikola, dear, your voice is great for your musical style in many ways. But… THIS IS NOT ONE OF THEM. Please, never ever commit this atrocity to ear drums everywhere again. (Not to mention my intelligence. If I wanted glurge, I’d check my e-mail.)

Hmm… oh, “Mary Jane” off of “Jagged Little Pill” by Alanis Morisette. All of the other songs (except the ‘hidden track’) are great. This one is just painful. Maybe I’m just prejudiced – I prefer fast songs over slow – but this one is bad, even for a slow song. IMHO opinion of course, and YMMV. 😉

Aaargh! You people cause me pain, what with your Beatles’ “silly song” insults! Is there no room in fans’ hearts for meaningless but joyful trifles like “Maxwell’s Silver Hammer” and “Octopus’s Garden”? I’ve always loved their goofier stuff. If anything mars “Abbey Road” it’s the overkill of “I want You/She’s So Heavy.” Not a BAD song, per se . . . there’s just not enough song there to justify, what, seven minutes?

My vote for lame Beatles song that mars an other wise great album: “I Want To Tell You” from Revolver. Talk about filler material … not one of George’s best efforts. . .

Yay, I love complaining about pointless stuff! (really!)

Off the top of me head:

_Pills_ from Primal Scream’s XTRMNTR is awful.
_Climbing up the walls_ by Radiohead from OK Computer is just grating, although a lot of people have told me it’s one of their favourites.
_Sing Swan Song_ by Can, from the otherwise perfect album Ege Bamyesi.
_Touched_ by My Bloody Valentine off of Loveless. Ugh.

PS. I’m THIS (:(:(:(:() sad seeing both _Ignoreland_ and _Tomorrow never knows_ mentioned. DS.

I, too, am stunned to see that _Tomorrow Never Knows_ off of the Beatles’ _Revolver_ included on this list. That is clearly a case of YMMV. In my mind, that is _the_ anchoring song of off, IMHO, the greatest rock album ever. It is the song that makes every other song on that album seem that much more important and special.

Before I read that post, I was thinking what track and album I would name. For _Revolver_, I would nominate:

Here, There and Everywhere

To me, that song is typical McCartney dreck - granted, it is much better than Michelle and some of his other syrupy love songs, but lord, it is too cute for words.

“Ignoreland” RULES! The song on AFTP that sucks is “Star Me Kitten”.

Oh and “Within You Without You” on Sgt. Pepper.

I was with you up to that last part! :smack:

“Here, There and Everywhere” is syrupy, sure, but it’s really a lovely tune if you can get past the smarmy lyrics.

But you’re right on with “Tomorrow Never Knows” – a perfect, totally wacked-out ending to a great album!

Incidentally, whoever came up with the bright idea to hack off three songs for the U.S. release of “Revolver” qualifies as one of history’s most notorious butchers. How could anyone possibly think the album could do without “I’m Only Sleeping”?

To get into some obscurity…

[Clem Snide](http://www.clemsnide.com)’s album _The Ghost of Fashion_ is a beautiful, haunting, strange, melancholy, surreal journey. Up until the song The Junkie Jews, where it becomes unbearable. Argh.

My first thought was _Bullet the Blue Sky_ from U2’s **The Joshua Tree**. I’m not sure it qualifies as a “sucky song”, but after the beauty that is _With Or Without You_, the last thing I want to listen to is something loud and angry.

One of the all-time great albums: Gilded Palace of Sin by the Flying Burrito Brothers.

One of the all-time worst recordings, the last cut of Gilded Palace of Sin by the Flying Burrito Brothers: Hippie Boy

Yeah, at first i didnt like Bullet the blue sky, as you say, simply because it comes after With or Without You, which blows me clean away every single time. but having heard the whole album dozens and dozens of times, it fits in nicely now. anyway
My favourite album i think of all time could possibly be
‘david gray - white ladder’
with the only slightly bad song being No4 : ‘We’re not right’ just because i dont like the opening beat.
the rest of the album is immaculate
