The much beloved Weird Earl’s section on the main SD page has gone the way of Saturday-morning children’s programming, crushed under the soulless heel of “modernity.” So as per [Ed Zotti’s suggestion](http://boards.straightdope.com/sdmb/showpost.php?p=18005839&postcount=58), we can use this thread as our own Weird Earl’s. Not trying to threadshit, but this obsession seems weird. It reminds me of the Japanese soldiers after WW 2 who refused to believe the war was over, and stayed on Pacific islands for years after. ---

I knew before posting the nature of the pages, but felt it too “weird” to pass by anyway.
