There is a world of difference between finding a remarkable UNsavvy UNcynical INexperienced UNsullied by Hollywood child and coaxing from her/him a remarkably nuanced performance. ( Which in some cases can be honestly read as, " She was child-like and not like a child-actor " ) and Tatum O’Neal. Yes, she was nominated as an actress. It is fair to say there is a huge range of performances when it comes to children that can be called “acting”. ( Please make no misunderstanding. Tatum O’Neal was a savvy Hollywood child. That didn’t make her a c–t ) ---

the only thing that bugs me about this whole thing is that somehow it became an unspeakable crime to say anything less than complimentary about a kid (any kid.) You can find plenty of examples of young white celebrities being insulted. I think you could make a case the Olsen twins countdown stuff was worse than this. It’s true that you don’t get to tell people why they may be offended and which reasons are not acceptable. But some of the reasons people have settled on are weird. ---
