Back in the 1970s on New York City you would constantly see tv commercials for a consumer finance company called The Money Store. Yankees broadcaster Phil Rizzuto was the spokesman. At some point they replaced him with George Fenneman, best known as Groucho’s sidekick on “You Bet YourcLife”. The New York Daily News actually editorialized this was a bad idea since the Scooter was a well known New York figure for 40 years. Rizzuto was two years older but outlived Fenneman by a decade.

Speaking of Curlies, Curly Howard predeceased his predecessor in the Stooges (and significantly elder brother), Shemp, by three years. (Moe was the middle brother, and outlived them both by ~20 years.)

By now, Gordon Haskell has also outlived John Wetton (d.2017); sadly, Greg Lake (d.2016) did not.

Uriah Heep’s original bassist, Paul Newton, was replaced in 1971 by Mark Clarke, who himself was replaced in '72. Both men are still alive, and of the four bass players who’ve been in the band since, three are deceased: Gary Thain (d.1975), John Wetton (d.2017), and Trevor Bolder (d.2013).
