The lady they found (Rena Owen) was in 2 Star Wars movies (ep 2 and 3) as well.

The actors/actresses keep getting recycled. Time for Shatner to make a surprise appearance (or Takei if they want some gay jokes)

BTW, what was the British SF series that used “smeghead” a lot as an insult? :dubious:

Why not just deflect the damned thing instead of creating lots of potential problems for the future? Put it into a completely different orbit.

I’d expect Patrick Stewart to go first, given his long-standing association with MacFarlane (Stewart voices Avery Bullock on _American Dad_, narrated MacFarlane’s movie _Ted_ etc.)

Going back to the earlier episodes

One other detail that I picked up is that one can see the Empire State building and Brooklyn Bridge in the background. (Still looking for the Chrysler building)

The Empire State Building is dwarfed by the buildings around it which seems a little unrealistic but consider new Super tall buildings under construction and planned in New York (and Dubai) it might be feasible

Apparently at its full mass, it’s too big to deflect. One cut roughly in half, though, the daughter asteroids can be pushed around more easily and presumably parked into safe orbits.

I have a bigger problem with being able to see the planet in the background. I have to figure that if the asteroid is that close, you don’t have months before it hits; you have minutes or seconds. Oh, well… artistic license.

> I thought the advocate for the Moclan made pretty reasonable arguments (and some of the Orville crew’s arguments were super weak - oh, a female of super strong species is stronger than the male of a weaker species, no shit?) and that socities that are more or less functioning perfectly fine should be able to handle their own matters internally - so I was actually happy to see the resolution of the episode and thought well of the show for how it turned out. On Star Trek our crew would’ve made perfect arguments and the backwards race would’ve made comically evil/poor arguments and our crew would’ve won with their moralizing ways wrapping it all up with a ribbon. This was actually fairly brave for a light hearted trek type show.

“Brave” was precisely the word my wife and I used. The “wrong” side won. There was no trick, no change of heart; the baby went through a sex change, and that’s that. Mercer and Grayson walked away in defeat.

By network show standards that’s… not edgy, but honest, shall we say. The good guys did not prevail, and maybe the bad guys were not all bad.

Yeah, just ask Odo. 😉

Better yet, ask Kira…

I read somewhere he wore a rug when asked to meet with Paramount executives prior to being confirmed as Picard. It was so ratty that Roddenberry and Justman made him take it off. ☹

That’s it! 🙂

I had one of my EFL classes record an episode from a script I got off the Internet. Since they were all high schoolers, I had to gloss over the meaning of that particular term. :o

Wait… so that scene wasn’t supposed to be an obvious send-up of _Armageddon_? I thought the joke was, “We told the whole story of your two-hour movie in two and a half minutes!”
