Ok, I am a huge Ozzy Osbourne fan and I just got a chance to watch that new show on MTV called “The Osbournes”, which follows Ozzy’s family around their home in England. After watching it, let me just says this…“Whoa!”. Ozzy, although I respect him greatly for finally kicking drugs & alchohol (and cigarettes!), looks like a freakin’ zombie! Walking around all bug-eyed, slow as a sloth, zoning out. It’s hard to watch. His daughter and son are, how shall I say it, “out there” and probably will probably become drug addicts themselves. His wife Sharon seems to be the sanest of the bunch, but she has her quirks too. Everyone in the family uses cuss words in every sentence. They have like 10 dogs and 20 cats running around the house (and I wonderful house it is I might add). BIZARRO!! My wife, who is not an Ozzy fan, was so put off by the family and how they interact with each other that she had to leave the room. We got into this big argument after the show. She doesn’t feel that someone like Ozzy, with his “suspect morals”, and his “sad” family dynamic, should be "allowed’ to have a show on TV. I disagreeed, saying that 1) Ozzy is a livng legend with a strong personality, and the fact that he is clean and sober after all those years of abuse, while still putting out relevant music speaks volumes about his character. 2) While his family is “bizarre”, it _is_ interesting to watch and study. How times to you get to be a fly on the wall inside a mansion, watching the strange life a crazy English family? 3) We are talking about MTV here, it’s not like the show has to have some sort of intellectual value in order for it to appear on TV. She didn’t buy it. She thinks the show should be banned immediately. [sigh] Your thoughts? 🙂 ---

Your wife: she a republican?😉 I lvoe it. It is soo interesting. In fact, my son gets so weird at times, that watching Ozzy’s family makes me (us) feel not-so-weird after all. ---

I don’t know how “sad” their family dynamic is. It is very apparent that they all care about each other. Granted, the kids swear a lot, but so do their parents. I loved Ozzy telling his daughter “don’t do drugs, and if you have sex, use a condom.” Plus, her reaction was that of a typical teenager. I also liked him telling his son “I love you all more than life itself, but you drive me fucking mad.” Nice family values. Who’d a thunk it? ---

(As was the look on his daughter’s face.) I am actually enjoying the show. I don’t watch regularly, but I do try to catch episodes when I’m around and they’re on. There’s something about them as a group that is strangely compelling. I can’t really put my finger on it, but I watch anyway, not knowing why they have this strange hold over me. And I do not consider myself a huge Ozzy fan. I was only moderatley a fan during the 80’s. ---

Bah, it’s no use arguing with her. I just gave up. I have to tell you tho, I was laughing my ass off when Ozzy’s son told him that he and his friends were going to see Billy Corgan’s new band! The look on Ozzy’s face was priceless. LOL! For those you don’t know, Ozzy’s wife Sharon used to manage Smashing Pumpkins (Billy Corgans old band). Billy Corgan has a rep of being “difficult”. Well, Sharon couldn’t take it anymore and quit managing the Smashing Pumpkins. When she left she issued a press statement saying this: _“I regretfully announce that I no longer will be managing the Smashing Pumpkins due to illness. Billy Corgan is making me sick!”_ LMAO! Apparently, Ozzy and Sharon’s kids are big Billy Corgan fans. Hehehe. ---

I caught about 15 minutes of it. Isn’t that their new house in L.A.? Anyway, I couldn’t stand the show, just because it’s like sitting through a hearing test. Hey, why don’t you _beep, beep, beep_, on my _beep, beep_, after you _beep beep_. So don’t _beep, beep, beep_ your _beep, beep_, you little _beeeeeep, beeeeeeeep, beeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeep._ Those people swear more than a Kevin Smith movie. ---

Fingolfin tell your wife that Suicide Solution is about acohol killing you not about killing yourself. I always get pissed off when I hear people blameing Ozzy for ther fucked up kids when they don’t even know what the song is about. As if the word solution didn’t have other meanings, (but then who would they have to blame but themselves). ---

If you stick with it, the accents get easier to decipher, although I’m still distracted by all the bleeps. You might find it interesting to read all the interviews MTV did with the family and put on their site. As far as I can tell, they are a family struggling with the same problems many families with teens are. FTR, Ozzy really cracks down on the drug issue with his kids. He’s worried they’ll get thrown out of the U.S. if they get busted, for one thing. They cuss a lot, and their kids obviously have a lot more freedom than many others, but I don’t think they’re doomed to be wasted freaks their whole life. I see a lot of respect and affection between them and their parents. I’ll add that Sharon is a savvy businesswoman and Jack is following in her footsteps even though he’s young. He could turn out not only normal, but successful, too. I should wish so much for my kid. ---
