If you want to cheer yourself up, try thinking of things for the service that would startle relatives, but Mr. Shoe would have thought funny. I know I want champagne and chocolate covered strawberries at my memorial reception, not the usual little sandwiches and salad thing that church ladies put together(not that those aren’t okay) I think the body donation is a splendid thing. My mother, a retired RN, has arranged for that. Mom went through nursing school on a scholarship, and wants to “give something back”. As I said before, and so have many, call on us if there is anything you think we can do. Will there be an obituary with an online memorial book? Although that might get to close to home. Take care of yourself, eat and sleep well. You need to keep your strength up. ---

Black humor… When my boyfriend died last summer someone brought a balloon for his son to release at the memorial service. She said, “I got a heart shaped balloon since he had a heart attack.” My response: “It’s a good thing he didn’t have liver cancer, that would have been a hell of a balloon to find.” What I’m saying is, any port in a storm.
