Sure, I don’t expect the majority of folks on this board to buy it, considering that they seem to think GOP=Evil, but that’s fine. Keep it up. It’s good for the GOP’s prospects in November. Lord knows the party can use all the help it gets.

Funny how the vast majority of the smear crap comes from Republicans (in my mailbox, anyway). This, however, ain’t a smear campaign. It’s a search for facts.

I hope you and your wife can see the shallow and phony pretentious outrage coming from the right. This woman is running for VP which puts her in line for president. It is the act of responsible citizens to look at the facts about her. I’ve seen a lot more talk about the vicious smears against her than I have actually seen the vicious smears.

This whole “who’s Trig’s momma” doesn’t need to be a part of the mix but that doesn’t mean it’s not a valid question at all. I think the whole , “How dare you attack her in such a vicious way?” ploy is diversionary hypocritical BS. They’ve been pulling stuff out of context and playing the guilty by association game with Obama for freakin’ months. Now when people raise questions about Palin it’s suddenly a vicious unwarranted attack. No it isn’t, and their outrage is a ploy to avoid real examination.

I’m content to drop this particular issue as far as her character and viability as VP. There’s so much else with real evidence. The OP simply asks, is it proven false? As far as I can tell, it isn’t. Still, I’d rather let people know about all the other issues about her that are documented.

Yes, it’s responsible to get the facts about her. Of course, some liberals ignore the fact that Trig’s her kid. Some ignore the fact that it’s sexism to question whether she should be working outside the house while she trying to raise her kids (has anyone asked something similar of Barack Obama?). I see very little discussion about the facts of her life. I see a lot more innuendo and smears than anything else.

I agree that the attacks on Obama were out of bounds for the most part just as the attacks on Palin are here. Of course, the Democrats who were decrying these attacks on Obama certainly seem to revel in the same kind of attacks on Palin.

Of course it’s proven false. Since there is absolutely no evidence to support the contention, and Palin has said the kid’s hers, that means it’s false. Saying that she must prove some sort of negative is like asking Obama to prove he’s not a Muslim. It’s pretty hard to do something like that.

Oh yeah…questioning isn’t allowed on your side of the fence. If it IS posed as a question, you can’t see it as anything but an attack. Got it.

I agree that the question about her as a working mother is silly and sexist. Lot’s of Moms and Dads have careers that keep them away from home. I’ve seen a lot more discussion about how awful that attack is than I’ve seen the actual attack.
There are lots of legitimate arguments about her with facts backing them up. She’s being investigated for misuse of power as Governor. The evidence seems to be there. She presents herself as a valiant reformer and while it appears true that she fought corruption in Alaska she also went after millions for her little town and the state in general. She mentioned the bridge to nowhere last night in what appears to be an outright lie. There’s a fact check list about her speech on Huffington Post right now. She apparently tied to ban certain library books and tried to fire the librarian who wouldn’t cooperate. The list goes on. There are some serious questions about her that relate directly to her job ,not her gender, and they deserve to be aired and discussed. The right waving the sexism flag to avoid them doesn’t cut it for me.

I agree that once you declare for one team or the other it’s too easy to find fault and harder to remain objective in looking at the candidates. I just haven’t seen that many vicious attacks on Palin. I’ve seen a lot of legitimate questions about the job she did as mayor and Governor.

I think liberals are making a big mistake if they dismiss her. Go after her armed with facts and repeat them over and over. this issue doesn’t have facts so it should be dropped unless new evidence arises.

I wouldn’t call that _proof_. It would be a simple matter for her to release medical records about the birth. If she decides not to that’s okay by me.

We do have evidence besides Obama’s word, that he is not a Muslim. There is a document where he was registered as Muslim when he was very little because his step Dad was Muslim. That’s evidence. His being a ling time member of a Christian congregation is also evidence.

Consider the “Trig’s Mama” issue irrelevant to me barring further evidence. I’m just saying, don’t be distracted from the very legitimate concerns and facts about Palin because a few people go a bit to far and then the GOP uses feigned outrage to avoid dealing directly with the real issues. The attacks on her have been minor compared to the sustained attacks on Obama. The blatant hypocrisy of choosing her is what pisses off Obama supporters, but it’s a mistake to go after her lack of experience, her gender or motherhood. Go after her as a political official. There’s plenty of material there.

I think the point is that by continuing to discuss it on a public forum we’re keeping the issue alive.

There is a difference between asking questions and declaring something as fact. There’s no real evidence though so I wonder how discussion worthy it is. Of course when some Alaskan nurse comes forward that will all change. 🙂

What are you talking about “proving a negative?” She didn’t look pregnant. She acted irrationally in the face of potentially threatening circumstances surrounding a special needs child. And all the rest. If that doesn’t strike you as suspicious or at least questionable, then your standards are far more relaxed than mine. I have not taken my suspicions past the questioning stage. I have not told people that I believe she is the grandmother. I want to know if it has been disproven. It hasn’t been. And the circumstances are such that her word is a bit flimsy as far as I’m concerned.

There is a birth certificate and prenatal records. Those documents would answer a lot of questions.

Well, questions as such are fine. Many folks with no Kool-aid on their breaths would find questions like -

to be just the teeniest bit like an attack rather than the earnest search for facts you were claiming to conduct.

But by all means carry on. I will assume that you find questions like “is Obama a liar, or a paid agent of militant Islam?” to be no more than innocent inquiries.

Shodan

Sorry…the facts as the PALIN camp has laid them out don’t add up. If they don’t want people to question her sanity or integrity, they need to present her as something more than a reckless and secretive control freak.

Again…I’m not making up the reason I see her as such. She did not behave like a normal person would behave regarding their high-risk, fifth pregnancy.

Serious question. I fail to see how anyone could see her as “The” candidate for veep.

Again…I may have veered off topic in this thread, but that doesn’t mean my questions about Palin are a smear campaign. I don’t like him and I don’t like her. Their positions on the things that matter to the health of our nation are way off the mark.

And she has done nothing to answer questions that are prompted by her weird behavior. I’d like to see some documentation, but I realize that will probably never happen. It won’t change the fact that she’s everything I see wrong in a candidate. At least Obama directly addressed the issues as they came up, and continues to do so. His honesty and forthcoming has gone a long way to help his campaign. She needs to do the same.

Again, there is absolutely no evidence to support your contention. The idea that just because you have some questions then it is logical that Palin engaged in some huge conspiracy is ridiculous.

This rumor has been disproven as thoroughly as the notion that Barack Obama is a Muslim or that he doesn’t recite the pledge of allegiance. Continuing to insinuate that it’s true puts you in league with the ignorant morons who flood my inbox with the “Obama is a secret Muslim agent!” BS. You mean there has been no evidence presented to dispute it. The evidence is there. She just chooses not to share it with anyone. That’s her choice. But it doesn’t mean the questions have been answered adequately.

Disproven how, exactly? Bill Clinton denied a relationship with whatsherface. But once the blue dress came out of the closet, we had proof. And his statement didn’t match up with the evidence.

Why won’t she do what Obama did? I’ll tell you why…because it’s easier to claim outrage that we’d ask her something so personal, even though we asked a previous president if he got a blowjob from an aid. My how the standard has changed.

You don’t think they realize people _might_ catch on if the baby due late December isn’t born until late February or early March? (to account for giving birth mid-April, and it takes an average of [45 days](http://www.google.com/search?hl=en&q=ovulation+45+days+after+giving+birth&start=10&sa=N) after giving birth to ovulate again.) Someone upthread said something about a “convenient premie,” but this is the other way around and it’s unheard of for a baby to be a couple months _late_.

When Sarah Palin is being questioned under oath in a lawsuit in which this information is relevant, then you can complain that the standards aren’t the same.

Fine. Then I’m going to start a rumor that Obama’s two kids aren’t his, that Michelle was stepping out on him. After all, it seems logical. I mean, he’s busy with his legislative work and all that so why wouldn’t she do so? If Obama wants to disprove it then he can produce a DNA test. Until he does so, though, I’m going to believe that his kids aren’t his.

Does that make any sense?

Well, we also had the word of Linda Tripp that Monica Lewinsky told her of an affair. Even that flimsy hearsay evidence is a lot more than you have to support your claim right now.

You’re right. The baby’s parentage is none of our business. However, it speaks of a rather strange way of looking at things, and that _is_ important to voters.

The hubub around it does indeed speak to a strange way of looking at things – some people will spread rumors about people with whom they disagree ideologically based on nothing more than uneducated conjecture. The idea that people on opposite sides of the political spectrum are some kind of conniving bastards whose every action is the result of evil motives is something that saddens me.

And while this whole furor over Palin’s baby is only the latest example of it from the Left, I freely admit that those on the Right engage in this crap, too. Both sides need to knock it off.

Sure, but by then the election will have been over for some time.
