Sure, I said it would have been Okay. What is NOT Okay is haranguing a guy on life support based upon a maybe suspicion.

That is also probably illegal and should result in license suspension at a minimum.

I rewatched Season 1 in preparation for the new one dropping. While I think Noah Wylie deserved his Emmy, I suspect he got it for his breakdown scene.

The true pinnacle of his acting last year was when he realized that he was the father of Collins’s aborted child . He managed to make his understanding clear without any words and merely by how he reacted to the news.

The new one is promising. I’m wondering what will happen to the deaf woman.

Yep. If they had reported it, I wouldnt have a problem with that. She could have killed him with that.

What annoyed me about her was that she kept walking down to the swamped ER and expecting Dr Robby to just drop everything so she could talk to him about his numbers or whatever. Can’t she schedule appointments with him at the beginning or end of a shift to talk about this stuff? It seemed very self-centered of her to expect people to stop what they’re doing just because she decided to pop in. Are hospital administrators like that in real life?

I have to admit she did a great job in the last few episodes with the mass casualty event. So yeah she’s not just a bean counter, she knows how to run a hospital. I’m sure it’s gotta be a tough job, I just questioned her timing sometimes.

Not really.

But this is a TV drama.

I just started watching this show. It is fairly realistic, but I am going to watch more before commenting much.

I just finished watching the first season, and this comment was what I came here to make. We started watching it while my brother was visiting my sister and me from Costa Rica. Both of them worked their lives in the same hospital (my sister her entire working life; my brother maybe 80% of his working life). They both were impressed with how true it felt. Minor things like the lack of masks (although I know it’s probably so the actors faces could be seen, but it also made poor Whittaker’s splatter issues more intense).

Loved it.

Yeah! She was Bart on Dirk Gently, and I loved her in that. I’m still bummed that it was cancelled.

The pace and characters feel pretty true to life. The cases are also realistic but obviously some artistic licence was taken to present all that stuff - some of which happens infrequently even in busy urban centres - on a single day. I’ve only noticed a handful of errors, so it has far more versimilitude than most other medical shows.

One moment I found very moving was when Wyle was encouraging fighting siblings trying to come to terms with their dying father in one of the earliest episodes. He established a degree of healing by advising them to try “a Hawaiian” protocol “which I have often seen work well” where one expressed opinions in the form of “I love you… I thank you… I forgive you… Please forgive me”. I have never heard that used in that way and it struck me as a very wise and practical approach.
