Pope Francis is going to have a scheduled surgery for diverticular stenosis. I hope he will be OK, but let’s be honest, I just couldn’t resist the title. ---

I’m not Catholic, but I do wish him a speedy recovery. That said, everyone I’ve known personally who had a partial colectomy for diverticular disease (n = 3, including my father) later had paralytic ileus, which is no fun either. ---
