You, sirrah, are obviously not a connisewer of Fine Lit-ture.
_Qadgop the Mercoatan slithered flatly around the after-bulge of the tranship. One claw dug into the meters-thick armour of pure neutronium, then another. Its terrible xmex-like snout locked on. Its zymolosely polydactile tongue crunched out, crashed down, rasped across. Slurp! Slurp! At each abrasive stroke the groove in the tranship’s plating deepened and Qadgop leered more fiercely. Fools! Did they think that the airlessness of absolute space, the heatlessness of absolute zero, the yieldlessness of absolute neutronium, could stop QADGOP THE MERCOTAN? And the stowaway, that human wench Cynthia, cowering in helpless terror just beyond this thin and fragile wall…_

In addition to the fine character points cited above, I was deeply touched by his words when describing the passing of his beloved critters. Reading his posts, you could picture the Mercocat and Mercodog, in all of their flawed beauty and eccentric lovability. I’m a believer that how men speak of their quadripedal companions in life reflects their own person, and **QtM** comes across superbly.

Yes, **QtM** is one of the most pleasant, informative and entertaining posters on this board.
A class act, not to mention that he’s doing work that’s both important and something I couldn’t try even if I had the credentials to qualify for it.
May his keyboard never stick.

I kid, I kid. I bestow upon **Qadgop** the highest honour, taught to me by my father, whenever he is in genuine awe of someone, be it because they are cool, smart, or just downright extraoridinary: “ **Qadgop** is _such_ a _dude_.”

There is nothing mundane or pointless about this thread. I, too, have the greatest respect for QtM. Seems like there should be a special forum for his posts, and where his fan club may congregate. Count me in.

You know, I’ve always had a sneaking suspicion that Qadgop was really J.R.R. Tolkien reincarnated.
Kind of like a Time Lord, only without Daleks and with _those_ kinds of bagels.
At any rate, he’s part of my personal pantheon. So there. 🙂

My fellow Tolkien geeks, I can only say “Elen síla lúmenn’ omentielvo!” (or “omentielmo”, depending on which version of Quenya you adhere to)
Thanks all, and remember: Eat more fiber! It’s like exercise for your colon! If it’s not tasty enough, add vegemite or marmite! And push fluids with it, like ginger beer.

If you’ve got ancestors back in/from Winterswijk, I suspect it’s quite likely. I haven’t had a chance to check out the gigantic, new files she sent this weekend, but nearly everyone else on the other branches was from that area.
Oh, I’d like to add to the love-fest the note that I had lunch with the man when he was in town. 😃 (Envy me!)

It’s probably not the way most people think of “junkie” but he wasn’t only addicted to alcohol in the past. I don’t recall off the top of my head what the substance being abused was, however.
