I have mild to moderate body aches and intermittent nausea, and it’s been going on since late Wednesday. No fever; I just checked it. I had cantaloupe a couple weeks ago, when I went to a diner with my inlaws. I pretty much only eat cantaloupe when I go to this greasy spoon diner with them, as I want something healthier than the usual fare they serve. And now there’s the Listeria epidemic from cantaloupes, and symptoms can take from a few days to up to a month or more to manifest. The irony, it burns. I’m considering calling Employee Health after the meeting I have soon, and asking if I should come in to get checked, or if I should go through my regular doctor here. If I had a fever I’d be there already. ---

IANAD, but from what I’ve heard and read about Listeria, you should go to a doctor right away. This stuff can turn fatal rather quickly. ---

OMG, **FerretHerder** , I can’t handle any more deaths or even just bad news. I like ya, no reason, I just do. Maybe it’s the soft spot in my cold heart for my own long-gone ferrets, buried in various spots in Tx. So, please … see someone more medically qualified than random internet strangers, and then please check back in - or send a bunneh - to let us know you’re OK. ---

Employee Health doesn’t deal with it (I work in a medical center), and said call your doctor’s office, so I’ll call. I’d just walk in and ask but her building is across the street, so I think I’ll be lazy and call. 😛 Oh, and still no fever; I rechecked it myself. ---

No, I did _not_ wash the massive pile of towels, as we only had enough soap left for one damn load of laundry, and you (being you) would more than like suddenly need something washed _NOW_! Oh, and I was in office the majority of the day, so even if we had soap, I have yet to master the two places at one time thing. And no, I have not started dinner yet. We’ll eat in a few hours. It’s not my problem that you chose not to eat at school. Oh, you didn’t eat so you could save me money? How nice of you. The money is there whether you use it or not. Be honest, you either were off campus or you didn’t like what was being served. Don’t try be all “I’m just thinking of your wallet”, child. It doesn’t work. Yes, you did injure yourself last night. I’m sure your shoulder does hurt. But for fuck’s sake, you didn’t break anything, you just twisted your shoulder. The doctor said no sling, you need to work through it. Put the damn scarf down, I’m not tying it for you, as I know you want it only for the pity aspect. Oh, and BTW? Thank you for making commitments for us without asking first. I was hoping to make some time back from work, but no. I’m instead helping a family member move. I would have been glad to help in the afternoon, not at 9am. ---

Doc said if I do have Listeria, I’m fighting it off nicely, which is what he’d expect since I’m not immunocompromised. Could be some virus, too. If my symptoms get dramatically worse, I should call them. Oh, and the only real way to diagnose it for sure is via spinal tap, and they don’t do those without a pretty good reason. ---

I did _not_ know that - about the spinal taps - or I wouldn’t have been all “go see a dr!” on your ass. Anyway, continue on and fight the good fight, oh non-immunocompromised one! What I really want to rant about is the amount of talks people are doing about Christmas. We haven’t even had Thanksgiving and people are just keen to know about what gifts am I planning for Christmas or what preparation etc. Give me a break, I got loads of work and I am so not interested to talk about it right now. Its not as if I am acting like Scrooge, but if Christmas isn’t close by, I shouldn’t worry about Christmas preparation. ---

I’m really afraid that while I was packing up stuff to put into storage that I lost my sister’s, Garcia bear beanie baby, it’s got to be round somewhere, but i CANNOT remember where i saw it last. I worry that I might have shredded something we might need later when i was going through and shredding my parents’ thirty years worth of cancelled checks. ---
