People who keep saying that Charles’s past will make him a bad king need to read up on their history of the royal family. He’s a saint compared to some of his ancestors. ---

I’m not a Brit, so this is only a Yank’s observation and opinion, but Charles isn’t terribly popular in the Commonwealth, and there have been rumblings for years that the monarchy has outlived its usefulness. I wonder if it might not make more sense for The Firm if old Charles steps aside for an extremely popular young king with an adorable family. I think the Brits would embrace William and Kate much more than Charles and Camila. But that’s just an outsider’s perspective, so YMMV. ---

His great great grandfather ended up being a good King, despite being a very unpopular Prince of Wales to a beloved Queen Regnant. I suspect when he kicks the bucket, it will be much the same. ---
