Candidates usually emerge from their conventions with a poll bounce of 5-10 points or so, following an uninterrupted run of attention and positivity. Trump may be the first nominee ever to have a post-convention dip.

Is that dip named Pence, or Trump?

> You forgot to mention the Vice Presidential nomination, vote, and acceptance speech.

The VP “vote” consists of:
“Since there is only one nominee for Vice-President, the Rules of the Republican Party call for a vote for his nomination by acclimation. All in favor? All opposed? The ayes have it, and Mike Pence is the Republican Party candidate for Vice-President.”

Note that the Democrats’ vote isn’t much more dramatic, assuming they don’t change the rules:
“The secretary will call the roll.”
“Alabama”
“Alabama yields to (insert the name of a state here - probably the home state of the VP candidate)”
“Alabama yields to (Yielded state)…(Yielded State)”
“We move that (candidate) be named the Vice-Presidential candidate by acclimation.”
The motion is noted, and then seconded, and then it’s pretty much a copy of what the Republicans do, except of course that it’s not Pence.

Be advised that the bars in Cleveland will be open until 4 AM, not 2:30 like normal. With open carry/concealed carry, this should make trauma centers/emergency rooms drool for the extra income.

Nitpick: “Acclamation”, same root as “acclaim.” Most of the delegates will only be there for a week or less, so they shouldn’t need acclimation.

The RNC apologized to the Adelsons after sending them a letter asking for $6 million to cover the convention. The letter said that there were several major corporations which had backed out of financing the convention, when in real life, they had never committed to doing so in the first place.

You know, initially I enjoyed seeing Dubya’s failures - not the ones that hurt people, but the ones that cumulatively eventually made a mockery of him. But eventually it reached a level where I felt ashamed of and sorry for him (mostly).

The GOP is starting to reach the same levels.

We can best advance the progress of reason and humanity by showing them the error of their ways. The most immediate opportunity would be to kick the living snot out them in November. It may not be the whole answer, but it will certainly focus their attention.

Trump couldn’t fill up enough podium time with people he could actually get, even with all of his family members, so he’s since added Scott Baio and Antonio Sabato Jr. They don’t even get invited to celebrity roasts on basic cable.

I’d suspect the criminal defense lawyers are drooling more.

Anyone in those bars carrying while drinking (or while already under the influence from drinking beforehand) is already committing a felony in Ohio. Open carrying (without a concealed carry permit) is also not allowed in bars while being really easy to enforce. Any business can also post notification that weapons aren’t allowed on the premises although that’s only a misdemeanor to violate. Ohio’s is also a duty to inform state; concealed license holders have to notify police if they are carrying a pistol when the police initiate a contact or be liable to yet another criminal charge.

That’s a lot of potential clients who only need to be stupid enough to make themselves criminals by going bar hopping with a firearm. _Cha-ching_

At least Clint Eastwood is a cinema legend with political experience.

Am I completely crazy, or can one easily imagine them scrambling to fill this list?
