The Republican War on Voting Thread

Maybe because “whataboutism” isn’t an argument, let alone one that deserves addressing.

You make it clear you don’t understand the meaning of the term “whataboutism”. I’m comparing two situations that are similar, not raising a different issue. The fact you can’t or won’t explain why behavior by white folks is just fine but by black folks is intimidation says all I need to know.

That doesn’t meet the legal definition of a threat.

I ammend my previous comment to include the obvious disclaimer that if ones race has historically been shat upon by the American government, including ones right to vote, using a gun to protect ones rights does not necessarily reveal one to be a dipshit.

I didn’t say that. Please DO NOT put words in my mouth.

You could just say that given your position on the recent activity that what New Black Panthers did was in no way voter intimidation.
But that would require admitting that some folks :cough: conservatives :cough: have two different standards for the “same” activity.

I have made no comment, one way or another, about the New Black Panthers in this thread. Don’t ascribe my position for me, thanks.

Then quit ignoring it and explain the difference between the two situations.

Or are you saying you disagree with the GOP claims that the 2008 incident was voter intimidation?

Ignoring it makes your position self evident.

I/we didn’t, you won’t state your position!

I don’t know anything about “the 2008 incident” to make an informed comment.

It’s pretty straightforward and simple to learn about. It’s obvious you have access to the internet so do a search. “2008 Philadelphia Voter Intimidation” should work fine.

Plus, you’ve been provided with a pretty straightforward outline of what happened and I linked to an article about it upthread. Any lack of knowledge about the incident at this point makes it seem like willful ignorance.

In Before: Someone rejects the, already, linked cite!

No, that’s not how it works. “Do a search” is not how GD/PE operates. You make a statement, you back it up.

I’ve backed it up with a cite twice now. The fact you choose to continue ignoring it makes it clear where you stand.

I can’t figure out why these guys are allowed to do what they’re doing. It is clearly voter intimidation intentional and flagrant. I wonder what would happen if armed, black, drop box watchers, showed up in a primarily white district. Hmmm, I just can’t imagine what would happen.

So, your defense to not saying something is to insist that you didn’t say it?

I can. The police would find some grounds to arrest them. Probably “disturbing the peace”, or “voter intimidation”.

The police wouldn’t need any more grounds than the guys being black. Blackness is intrinsically threatening, amirite?

Just ask that lunatic woman who was walking her dog in Central Park and encountered a <gasp> Black man looking at birds.
